Homework:
This week your child will receive their first homework packet. I have included a recommended schedule, but homework can be completed in any order. I suggest reading the Backpack Page every night to help improve fluency! Please continue reading 15 minutes every night with your child. The fluency page can count towards the 15 minute nightly reading requirement. Memory words(found at the bottom of this post) are high-frequency words that children are taught to recognize by sight. These words are either phonetically irregular and can't be decoded, or they contain letter sounds that haven't been taught yet. Practicing memory words on a regular basis can help improve your child's reading!  Homework packets will go home Monday and need to be returned to school every Friday.

Memory words:  I, a, the, for, you, like

Spelling words: none

Other Notes:
  • Please make sure you sign your child's planner and initial the behavior chart in the green folder on a nightly basis.
  • On Friday, August 23, there will be a half day (12:30 dismissal)
