Welcome to First Grade!!!

Hello Parents,
  Welcome to another school year! I am excited to for this new academic year.  Today your child recieved a family envelope from the office.  Please make sure to review all the information, fill out the required paperwork, and staple in your child's planner. Later this week, students will receive another information packet from me.  I am also sending home a Student Information form.... this will alllow me to have updated contact information from you and for me to get to know your child a little better.  Both papers will be stapled in your child's planner.   Please return the Student Information form by Friday.

 Please remember on Mass days your child should be wearing their formal uniform (no shorts).   We will have a second mass this Thursday, August 15th.

This week in class:

Phonics- Review beginning sounds and letter formation.

Reading- "The Flat Cat"; We will be focusing on characters, setting, plot, and parts of a book.

ELA/ Writing- Writing name/ sounding out words.  How to write sentences with a capital, period, and using correct spacing.

Math- Numbers 1-10 (counting, writing in standard and word form)

Religion- Friendship/ showing love towards others

Social Studies- Rules/ how to be prepared for school

Homework:

Since this is the first week of school, there will be no homework.  However, I strongly encourage you to start reading 15 minutes per night with your child.  Next week, students will recieve a homework folder, which will include a reading log.
