4/24/17 Welcome back, we hope you had a refreshing Easter vacation. The end of the school year is fast approaching and there will be many activities in the coming weeks. Please note the dates to remember at the bottom of this newsletter. Relay for Life: Friday is purple free dress for $1.00. The class with the most purple will win an ice cream party! Penny wars are still in progress. The children can bring in money to fill our bucket with pennies or to sabotage other classes! All proceeds go to help support the American Cancer Society. The Relay for Life event will be help on Saturday 4/29 at El Capitan High School. Grandparents Day: We will celebrate Grandparents Day on Friday May 5th in the auditorium. This is always a favorite with the Grandparents! Talent Show: The talent show is May 12th. Anyone interested in performing must try out by April 26th. Please let me know if your child will try out for the talent show. Chaffee Zoo Field Trip: We are going to the Zoo May 17th. Chaperones/drivers will be needed. Remember all chaperones/drivers need to have completed safe environment training, cleared fingerprints, and turned in the appropriate forms to chaperone/drive. This is a kindergarten field trip therefore siblings are not allowed to go on the class field trip. Drivers there is a $5 parking fee. Summer Tutoring: Summer tutoring spots are filling up. If you were interested in summer tutoring, please let me know as soon as possible. Dates are Tuesdays & Thursdays, June 13th –July 13th (July 4th class will be held on July 5th). Tutoring is available for incoming Kindergarten – 3rd grade in reading, math. It’s a great way to get extra help or get ahead for the next school year. 4-10-17 Bring 10 filled Easter Eggs: We will have an egg hunt on Tuesday April 11th. Please bring in 10 filled plastic Easter eggs. The Student Council will be hiding eggs for our Egg Hunt. Relay for Life: Relay for Life is April 29th. Every year the school collects donations for Relay for Life. Your child can bring in dimes to put into our dime bottle. Also, purple shoelaces, socks, hats and hair ribbons will be sold to help raise money. Proceeds will go to Relay for Life! Help support the fight against cancer. Mini Relay/Bark for Life: Thursday 4/13 from 10:45-12:15 will be the Mini-Relay and Bark for Life event. See the flyer in the family envelope for further information. Appropriate purple free dress may be worn for $1.00. Proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. Holy Thursday: OLM will close on Holy Thursday, April 13th at 12:30. There will be no afternoon extended care services. School will reopen Monday, April 24th. Chaffee Zoo Field Trip: We are going to the zoo on May 17th. Permission slips will be sent home when we return from Easter Break. Chaperones/drivers will be needed. Remember all chaperones/drivers need to have completed safe environment training, cleared fingerprints, and turned in the appropriate forms to chaperone/drive. This is a kindergarten field trip therefore siblings are not allowed to go on the class field trip. Chaperones will be selected on a first come first serve basis. The children have been practicing and are looking forward to performing for you. Please bring your child to the classroom by 6:15 pm. The theme is 50's so they can wear something 50's style.
