Happy Catholic School's Week !!

Thank you to all who were able to attend and participate in the School Fundraiser.  
Continue to check daily on the letter that was sent home with daily activities for the 3rd grade.

COLD AND FLU SEASON IS HERE!!
We are doing our best to try to keep everyone healthy in our class.  If your child has the common cold and is feeling miserable it is best to keep them at home.  If they have a continuous runny nose and cough they are able to give it to the rest of us in class. Children who are running fevers are suppose to be home for 24 hours.  I know that this is an inconvenience at times but we are doing our best to not spread the germs. In class we have been hand-washing, using sanitizer and clorox wipes.  Thank you for your being understanding of others and their families.

Week of 20-24

No School Monday in observance of Martin Luther King.

Reminder For Uniform Dress Code:
Only OLM Sweatshirts must be worn.  Your child will be asked to remove any sweatshirt that is not OLM.  There are a lot of lost and found sweaters if you are looking for one.  Your child may wear any type of jacket on the playground.

Reading - My Fathers Dragon chapter book
We will read chapters 1-4 this week.  The comprehension test will be Friday on these 4 chapters

Spelling - Test On Friday

Math - Timed tests will be given 3 days a week.  Most students have passed the 2's.  Continue to help at home by working on the times tables.  You may use flash cards to help study.  
Chapter 6 Multiplication 6's, 7's, 8's and 9's
This chapter will move along quickly.  Multiplication is a 3rd grade goal that needs to be mastered.  This will help your child tremendously in the future if they know their math facts so please help at home! 

Science - Chapter 2 
Solar System
We are working on a planet workbook. Your child is researching a planet and writing. This will be displayed at the Science Fair in February. 

Religion - Chapter 8 We Pray to the Holy Spirit

This weekend will kick off Catholic Schools Week.  I have sent home a list of events.  Keep it handy for the week and be sure to continue checking Planners.

Students will have a buddy that they will be having lunch with and exchanging gifts .  Each child must bring a small gift no more than $2.  (candy, cookies, notepad/ pens , etc. ) Our class will be paired up with Mrs. Lorenzi’s 6th grade.  Your child has chosen ______________________ ______________________as their buddy/buddies.

Thank you to the whole class for helping with the Mass last Friday. Even though we didn't have power the readers and singers did a wonderful job.  

Report cards went home Friday.  Be sure to go over them with your child.

 Welcome to the 3rd quarter!!
It's hard to believe we are half way through the school year.  

We will begin writing a lot of our assignments in cursive.  The spelling tests will be written in print.  
We will also begin multiplication fact tests next week.  Each child will be timed for 1 minute to complete problems.  We will all start with the 2's and move on if they have passed.  We will take the test 3 times a week.  Please start practicing.

We will be preparing for the class mass this Friday, January 10th.  I will be sending home some readings for the students.  All are welcome to attend.  The mass will begin at 8:15.  This will also be a 12:30 dismissal.
