Sunday, April 7th- School Mass @ St. Patrick's Church, 6:30pm. This week in class: Reading- chapter 28 in Superkids. Practice reading accurately, observing punctation, and practice reading text in speech balloons. Phonics- decoding and encoding long O words, suffix -ness, comparative and superlative adjectives, and review homophones. Math- the test on Time will be given on Wednesday. Our next chapter, 3&4 time tables. Social Studies- in our weekly we will be discussing Life Long Ago. Religion- Blessed. Prepare for First Communion. Science-Landforms.

March 25-29
Just a reminder that there is no school on Monday, March 25th. This is parent/teacher conference week, there is early dismissal all week long (12:30pm). If you have any question about your child's report card that went home on Wednesday, March 20th, we can discuss them during the time of our scheduled conference. Also, at conference I will be giving out more information regarding First Holy Communion and answering any further questions you might have about that day. This week in class: Reading- chapter 27 in Superkids. We will continue to work on reading with tone and expression, we will review parts of a story beginning, middle, and end, and the main idea of a text. Phonics- encoding and decoding long i words, comparative and superlative adjectives, and writing in complete sentence form. We also will be writing opinion paragraphs. Math- completing our Time chapter. There will be a test on Friday, March 29th. A study guide will go home mid-week with your child. Religion-Blessed, preparing for First Communion. This Friday, after morning prayer our class will be leading the school in Stations of the Cross. All second graders will be participating...if you have the time please join us in the auditorium first thing in the morning. During Lent we will be helping out the D Street Shelter by donating items to those who are less fortunate. The items will be divided up among Faith Families, each day a faith family will bring the item requested. Below you will find the list for this weeks donations...your child should know their Faith Family number. Monday, March 11th: Faith Family 1-1lb uncooked spaghetti Tuesday, March12th: Faith Family 2-1lb. cooked ham Wednesday, March 13th-Faith Family 3- 1 large loaf of slice bread Thursday, March 14th-Faith Family 4- 12 bagels each Friday, March 15th-Faith Family 5 2 boxes if Kraft mac and cheese This week in class: Reading-Chapter 25, Superkids. On Friday your child went home with a letter regarding First Holy Communion. As stated in the letter First Communion is Saturday, May 4th at St. Patrick's church. The dress attire is formal. Boys should wear a suit or at least a collard button up shirt with a tie and dress pants. Girls should wear a dress white, or ivory; veils are permitted and flowers crowns too. More information will be given out when we meet at our parent teacher conferences in two weeks. This week in class: Reading- chapter 24 in Superkids. We will practice reading dialogue with expression, observing punctuation, determining character motivation, and understanding multiple story lines. Phonics- compound words, distinguish between singular and plural pronouns, prefixes -mis-un-dis-and -pre. Math-we will complete our chapter on Measurement. Your child will come home with a study guide at the beginning of the week and the test will on Friday. Social Studies- this week our California Studies Weekly focuses on Goods and Services. Science- we continue learning about Changes in the Habitat.
