Friday, October 4th-11am Blessing of the Animal's Mass. 12:30 dismissal. In class this week: Reading- chapter 6 in Superkids. This week we will focus on understanding grade-level texts; recognizing repeated words; reading with expression; learn about features in an informational text; and learn to determine ideas from an informational text. Language Art- teach meaning and sounds of words ending in ed; encode and decode spelling words; review plural nouns; and teach words ending in y. Math- continue with 3 digit subtraction with regrouping. Social Studies- this week our weekly is "Changes for American Indians. Science- we will finish writing our animal reports. Friday, September 13th is Game Day for K-2, from 2:30-3:45. Students will meet in the gym right after school. In class this week: Reading- Superkids, Chapter 3; read and discuss grade level text; practice reading with natural phrasing; and practice reading with appropriate stress. Language Arts- decode and encode spelling words; review nouns, verbs, and adjectives; short vowel le spelling patterns; and review onomatopoeia. Math- 3 digit addition with and without regrouping. Science- Animals Grow and Change. Social Studies- History and Time. Religion-wrap up our chapter on Praising and Giving Thanks to God. Then begin chapter, We Can Choose To Do Good. Wednesday, September 4th-Picture Day and Open House 5:30-7:00. Thursday, September 5th-Picture Day continues. Friday, September 6th-All School Mass at 8:15am and a 12:30pm dismissal. This week in class: Reading- Chapter 2 in our Superkids reader. Objective: understanding characters; cite text evidence; understand picture-text relationship; comprehension. Language Art- students will learn about onomatopoeia; contractions; writing accurate and complete sentences; homonyms; review pronouns. Social Studies- this week our weekly focuses on "Types of Sources." Objective: Students will learn about two types of sources-primary and secondary. Science- begin new chapter, "Animals Grow and Change." Objective: describe how animals are alike and different; identify characteristics for classifying animals; understanding an animal's life cycle. Math- last week we began our chapter 2, "Addition up to 1,000." Objective: adding three-digit numbers with regrouping and without regrouping; solve real-world addition problems. Religion- our chapter is "We Praise and Thank God." Students will learn how to pray scripture verses; how to personally pray to God.
