  Week of 12/17-12/21

  This is our final week before Christmas break.  I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and hope you all enjoy the two week break.  There are no spelling words and no homework this week.  Remember that Friday is a half day and there is NO EXTENDED CARE. 

  Reading-we have completed our first Superkids reader, The Superkids Take Off.  We will begin the second book when we return from holiday break.  The Superkids program offers other material such as Super Magazines and Super Book club..we will spend the week exploring these other resources during our reading period.

  Phonics-I will not introduce a new concept, we will spend the week reviewing parts of speech, long vowel and short vowel sounds, we will review parts of a letter, constructing sentences, and paragraphs.

   Math-we have  completed the first text book we now begin our  Math B book.  The first chapter is a short chapter about Mental Math and Estimation.  

   Religion-read and discuss chapter 10, Acting on God's Word.  The children will learn about the Works of Mercy.

  Science-our new chapter is about Forces and Motion.

  Social Studies- our weekly topic is Rules and Responsibilities.
