​8th Grade: This week, let us keep in mind the character trait and motto we chose to present to our class and families at Open House.  Let us look for ways to live out those ideas at home and at school - remember where to turn to for help in achieving that goal! 
Parents and students - thank you all for your positive attitudes and efforts at our Open House yesterday - all your hospitality was noticed and greatly appreciated!

Calendar:
Monday-Friday, August 29-September 2: Star Testing Week
                                                                    Recess 10-10:20 daily
Friday, September 2: 8th bring St. Vincent Lunches; Free Spirit "Blue and White" Dress; 12:30 Dismissal  
Monday, September 5: NO SCHOOL - Labor Day - Thank all those who labor for you!
            
? of the Day: 8/29: After reading and taking your notes on the geography of the U.S., what is the 
                                location of your town - give both absolute and relative, and why was your 
                                town built here - DON'T GUESS LOOK IT UP!
                       8/30: How would you describe your town in the category of place in your notes?
                                 What are the physical and human characteristics of your town and what
                                 makes it different from other towns in the area? How have humans affected
                                 the environment in your town and how has the environment affected
                                people's lives? 
                                8/31: Who was Mother Theresa, when and where did she live, what affect did she have on the world 
                                            and why is she being canonized a saint? 
                                 9/1: After you complete your Cornell Notes on the preamble of the U.S. Constitution, can you now
                                          write the preamble as written in the Constitution on a separate paper?  This is the first step in
                                           memorizing it.  Have you prepared your St. Vincent Lunch yet? And don't forget your OLM 
                                           Spirit Free Dress tomorrow!
HOMEWORK
8 Religion: 9/1: Sunday Reading Connections and Questions due Tuesday 

8 US History: 8/29: Reread and Cornell Note Text p. 4-19 
                        8/30: Highlight Cornell notes and complete 25 geographical terms from p.14-15 -
                                 50 notecards in a sandwich ziplock with proper heading on bag. 
                        8/31: ONLY Geographical Term Test on Thursday - tonight practice the
                                  matching game, turn in your notecards tomorrow, and write the details for
                                  your study guide.
                         9/1:  Read and Cornell Note p.248, 256-259 
8 Physical Science: 8/30: Remember presentation dates for interviewees begin September 12th - 30th.

Algebra: Keeler: 8/29: review p14-15 note formulas etc.
                             8/31: "Tuesday" worksheet
                               9/1: p.24 #2-8 even
