8th Grade: You did a beautiful job of praising God yesterday as you shared your voices,artwork, and greetings with all those at the Cherish center - a perfect beginning to the Advent season preparing to "walk in the way of Jesus!"

You get free dress ALL WEEK! Don't forget to complete your Sunday readings - no questions just the 2 connections. Please share yesterday's "?of the Day" with your parents 12/8: Have you asked your parents if you can stay for the dance tomorrow? 2:45-5:00! Please also remind them about the 7:00am OLM mass at St. Patrick's Church on Sunday. And finally - it has been brought to my attention that some people are planning on bringing baked goods from Costco, etc. for the Spirit of Christmas Bake Sale Wednesday night. Please let your parents know that we cannot sell those items, as we cannot ask people to pay prices for items they can purchase for less than half the price elsewhere. This bake sale is an opportunity to do some Christmas baking with your parent and have special time together creating something unique and special that brings joy to others, and raises money to help those who are cold, hungry, and feeling unloved at this time of year. What good event took place, that still affects our current world, after the bombing of 2 cities in Japan at the end of World War II? 12/6: What very important event occured in the United States 75 years ago tomorrow? It changed the lives of many people throughout the world forever. Please briefly give the 5 W's about this date. 12/5: Please review this and focus on the meaning of what it says. You will be expected to know these facts about Advent. "Advent is a time of _penitence__ and __preparation___. The focus on Mary shows us how to _receive___ Christ into our hearts and _trust__ Him completely. The Advent wreath originated in _Germany__ in the Middle Ages. The ring shape symbolizes God's _eternal_ nature. Its green color is a sign of __hope_ and __everlasting_ life. Each of the _4_ candles on the wreath represent the Sundays of Advent. The pink candle represents the 3rd Sunday, called _Gaudete_ Sunday. It represents our _hope_ and _joy_ for the coming of the __Messiah__. The 3 __violet__ candles signify __penance__. Unlike Lent, they represent a sorrowful longing for _Christ’s presence. Advent is a time for each of us to __reflect__ on our relationship with_God_.
