Everyone was here again! One more day and we will have a perfect attendance week!!! Calendar: Tuesday, August 8: 7:15 Student Council Meets Rm 5, 6pm Sports Meeting in Auditorium Wednesday, August 9: 6pm Safe Environment Meeting for all parents who want to participate at OLM and have not already had this training Friday, August 11: Bring St. Vincent Lunch, make D Street Meal, 2:45-5pm Junior High Dance ? of the Day: Aug 10: I hope you have been thinking about "Why you are here" since I asked you this morning. Please respond to my question, "Why are you here?" in your Faith Journal in as many words as it takes you to explain your thoughts. Aug. 9: Every state in the U.S. has a "state bird, flower, and nick name." What are these three for the state of California? Write it down to be turned in tomorrow - don't just guess, check your answer. Aug.8: Choose 5 character traits that you think are essential for a person to possess. Write them in your Faith Journal and give a brief explanation of each. You can ask your parents about these when you talk about faith. Aug.7: Today at mass we heard and said the word "Amen" many times. Think about all the times you responded "Amen." What does "Amen" mean, what were you saying? Write a short explanation. Reminders: 8/9: Some of you and your parents still need to read, sign, and return: 2 handbooks, planner, any other items in family envelope along with the envelope. Grade 8 Homework Religion: 8/10: St. Vincent Lunch; choose an individual that you think most closely embodies the character traits that you feel are important to possess in life, by Monday. 8/9: $3.00 D Street Donation, look up "discernment" and define on paper 8/8:$3.00 D Street donation due, parents response to faith question, staple reading into front of Faith Journal U.S. History 8/9: States and Capitals listed by region and keyed to map colored by region Physical Science 8/8: Career research - look up careers you think you have an aptitude for and are interested in and explain what they entail and why you find them interesting. Algebra 8/10: p.5 MR all Grade 7 Homework Life Science 8/10: Choose plant to observe by Friday - write it's English and Latin names on paper to turn in. Memorize 6 Kingdoms of organism classification and 7 steps of the Scientific Method. Kingdoms quiz on Friday in Latin. World History 8/8: Color your world map and create a legend to name the continents and oceans.
