Thank you so much to all you supported the book drive for Lucile Packard Children's Hospital-Stanford.  I don't have the final total of books yet, but I will update next week.  Not only did you help the hospital, but you're purchases also helped to fund the purchase of new books for the OLM library as well.  Thank you for your generosity!

Our next class novel, after Anne Frank, will be To Kill a Mockingbird.  Everyone will need to purchase his/her own copy and bring them to class on November 5.  This can be purchased at Barnes and Noble or Amazon.  You may use a used copy as long as it is not already annotated.  You will not be allowed to use a copy from a sibling who already annotated the book.  If purchasing the book presents a financial hardship, please let Mrs. Lorenzi know, so that arrangements can be made to ensure that you have a book.

Oct. 22-26 is the book fair.  My son, Lucca Lorenzi, is having a book drive to benefit Lucile Packard Children's Hospital-Stanford, as part of his Pack It Up For Packard Service Project.  The story corner at the new hospital needs new books.  Also, the hospital would like to send each patient home with a new book.  Buy a book at the book fair and donate it.  Not only does the hospital benefit, but so does OLM's library.  All proceeds from the book fair go towards buying new books for the OLM library.  There will be a wish list for the hospital at the book fair, or you can simply buy a book for your age group that you think a patient might enjoy.  Wish list books will stock the hospital's story corner, and other books purchased will be given to patients to take home.  Thank you for helping to pay it forward!

Homework help:    Homework help is 2:30-3:30.  Sixth grade homework help will be in Mrs. Wennberg's room on Mondays and Wednesday and in Mrs. Lorenzi's room on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There is no homework help on Friday.  This year, in order to better meet the needs of our students in junior high, homework help will be a SILENT study hall.  It will be great for those needing a quiet place to work.  The teacher will also be available if assistance is needed.
