Hello 1st Grade Parents,

The school year is wrapping up quickly!

Reading- We are reading "Summer Snow" and "That Was Yesterday". We are reviewing the 'ou' and 'ow' sound from last week. Last week those two sounds sounded like the 'ou' in ouch.  This week we are adding in the long o sound for 'ow' as in the word snow.

Spelling: low, blow, grow, slow, snow, warm, walk, once, give, done

Math: Math is getting very exciting!! We have started two-digit addition. For example: 27
                             ​                                                                                                                  + 12
We start regrouping this week. Back when I was in elementary school regrouping was called borrowing. Please try to refer to borrowing as regrouping to your child. This is a very quick introduction to regrouping. We start double digit subtraction at the end of the week or beginning of next week. In addition to these we will also work on telling time to the hour and half past the hour.
