We are back to business this week!! Hopefully your child didn't groan that much to start their homework yesterday.
Reading- We are working on reading words with the silent e ending and a long vowel in the middle...this takes a lot of practice for some and that is okay. We will work on this for the rest of the year. If you are able to visit the Superkids Website please do....the games will help with the long vowel sound and the silent e...Practice the fluency sheet that came home yesterday. Math-We have started Chapter 5...Geometry-Working with shapes...The students are having fun with this chapter and so am I. Religion-Baptism-Being welcomed into the Church. Science-Water Cycle Art-Drawing a snowman that is skiing. P.E.-Dance/Games in the classroom...we will have to double-up on P.E. once the rain has stopped a little. Upcoming Activities- No School on January 16th-Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Auction- January 28th--Auction Catholic Schools Week- January 29th -February 3 School Mass Sunday January 29th @ 9:00 St. Patrick's Church Friday, February 3, School Mass...We will need drivers to bring students from church to school after mass. You will drop off your child at church that morning. Many other activities going on this week...I will blog them all next week. Hilmar Cheese Field Trip-Wednesday, February 8th...permission slip coming home soon. Have a great week, Mrs. Scheurich P.S. I will not be in the classroom Tuesday or Thursday of this week....The lesson plans I am leaving for the subs are exactly what I would do if I was in the classroom.

Happy New Year!!!
I hope everyone had a blessed, relaxing and fun Christmas Vacation!! This week is a quick!!! We will not have any homework this week!! Due to this no homework help on Wednesday or Thursday. Reading-Starting Unit 7-This unit is very important!! We are starting to learn about reading words with the silent "e" ending. For example: cake, bone, bike...many kids can read these words by using the context clues in a sentence, but if they are not in a sentence they cannot read them. We will continue to work on this skill for the rest of the year. Writing-Write a story that has a problem and solution. Math-Fact Families and starting Ordinal Numbers...1st, 2nd, 3rd.....Also practicing writing numbers to 120 in eight minutes. Religion-Epiphany Science-Reviewing clouds, condensation, wind, weather, temperature, thermometer Art-Mitten Art P.E.---Depends on weather---Dancing in classroom/four corners Things to Know: Minimum Day/Mass on Friday Progress Reports go home on Friday New Game Available on Superkids and new stories....keep reading!!
