We are only practicing number patterns up to the number twenty. Religion-Being thankful and thanking God. We have made it through Catholic Schools Week!! It seems every week is busy and exciting!
Reading: The story that we read this week is called, "The Straw Horse". The rule that we are working on when we read is: When a word has two vowels together, the first vowel is usually long and the second vowel is silent...For example: rain, jeep, seat, goat.....The way that we talk about this rule in class: When two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking. Writing: Plan a character...if time permits...writing a friendly letter Spelling Words: pain, train, boat, coat, eat, heat, seat, deep, keep and sleep Don't get too frustrated with your child while working on this new rule...it takes time for their brain to think...two vowels together, don't say the short vowel sound, say the long vowel sound, don't pronounce the second vowel...we will be practicing for the next two weeks. Math: Chapter 7-Numbers to 20- Students will be working on if you have how many tens are in a number and how many ones. For example, if you have the number 13...13 has 1 ten and 3 ones. Included in the homework is subtraction practice using a number line. Religion- Giving thanks to God Social Studies- Thailand- Our country for international night....if time permits we will be going over National Holidays and symbols for our country. P.E.--Skipping, hopping, baby steps, following directions Art-Flag of Thailand/Elephant Art Days to Remember: Wednesday, February 8-Field trip to Hilmar Cheese Factory- Drivers please be here at 10. Free Dress for Field Trip....Drivers might be doubled up in vehicles, we have enough drivers for 1 1/2 classes to go...Thank you for signing up. Wednesday, February 8- 6:00-7:30---International Night---We need 6 parents to help with serving food for this event. I am thinking 2 parents for every 30 minutes at our booth. Please talk to me if any parents are able to help after school or at 5:30 to help with set-up. Jordan Shifflett's Family owns Thai Cuisine 2. They are making the food for this evening. If each child could donate $5 to cover some of the cost for the food that would be greatly appreciated!! Valentine's Day-February 14- We are having a little party in class. If your child would like to bring a valentine for each person they may...we have 31 students in our class. For passing out purposes, please only have your child write their name for who it is from and not who each valentine is given to. If you have any questions please come see me or leave me a message in the office and I will get back to you!! Thank you for your understanding over the past few weeks, I have never taken so long to get better after being sick. I really missed being at school. God Bless You, Mrs. Scheurich |
