Happy New Year!!!
Welcome back!! Thank you all so much for all of the gifts you sent for me. I felt spoiled and loved. I hope you all had a great Christmas and break. I didn't hear any complaints about being back in school!! We slowly eased our way back into school today. We started our day off with mass and then later on the students all went to computer and library. This week in class: Reading: We are learning that when vowels are together the first vowel usually makes the long sound. We talked about these vowels being pairs. This week our vowel pairs are "oa" and "ai". I tell the students, " When two vowels go walking the first one does the talking." We are reading, "Lily's Little Boat" and "The Little Horse". Writing: Opinion----Generate ideas about a topic, support opinion...finish with a paragraph about if they like playing inside or outside better. Spelling: mail, tail, nail, rain, train, boat, coat, float, load, and road Math: Numbers to 20- Counting, writing, and spelling numbers to 20, working with numbers in a place value chart, knowing how many tens and how many ones in a number and figuring out the difference between two numbers. Also, in the homework folder I added a number line to help students with subtraction. Please leave the number in their folder. Religion: Epiphany Social Studies: Life Long Ago---How children's lives were different Art--Snow Owls and snowflakes Report cards go home on Friday Friday is Pajama Day!!! Students will also eat pancakes. Its going to be a great day!! Minimum Day!! Have a great week!! Mrs. Scheurich
