This week in First Grade:
Homework---I did not send home the Spelling Triangles in the Homework Folder this week...I think some of the words would not fit in the triangle. All of the rest of the homework is the same. Reading---We are learning the 1,1, 1 rule. If a word has one vowel and one letter after the vowel, one more letter needs to be added to the end of the word before 'ed' or 'ing' can be added. For example: hug, one vowel and one letter after the vowel...one more g needs to be added before adding the 'ed' and the 'ing'. hugged, hugging If a word only has one vowel and one or more letters after the vowel, the last letter does not need to be doubled. For example: help, helped, helping Our stories this week are: "The Big, Bad Blob" and "The Monster Under the Bus" Spelling Words: helped, helping, asked, asking, hugged, hugging, shopped, shopping, grinned, grinning Writing: Narrative---We will be writing a book about our field trip to Hunter Farms Math: Finishing Ordinal Numbers, going back to Chapter Four for subtraction. After this week of adding 9 we will start with subtracting 0 in our Homework Folders. Religion: God created all things to show his love for us Social Studies:Celebrate America Science: All About Animals Art: Witch Art I'm looking forward to seeing you all this week!
