Thank you to all of the parents that came to our parent-teacher conferences, they all went very well.
Also, thank you to all of the parents that worked the school carnival. I know the students I saw were having a great time!!

I have planned an ambitious schedule considering we have Halloween and All Saints Day Mass.

On Wednesday after the Halloween Costume Parade/Contest we are going to be coloring our own Jack O'Lanterns and writing a short description for them...I tape each pumpkin to the board and put a number under it. Each student reads their description and if we are able to guess which pumpkin is theirs within 3 guesses the student receives 2 pieces of candy. Each student will receive a piece of candy for participating. This takes us awhile, but the students love it and quickly realize how important it is to put some effort into a description.

This week in class:

Spelling: flipped, flipping, stepped, stepping, there, from, be, to, we, or
Reading: We are reading, "Dominic's Apple" and "Yuck! Yuck!"---Problem and Solution
Writing- We are writing a story about our field trip
Grammar- Take a verb and turn it into a noun by adding er....for example- swim...swimmer....The students are also learning that the one vowel, one letter after the vowel applies to adding 'er' at the end words not just 'ed' and 'ing'.

Math- Start the basics of subtraction-counting backwards

Religion-Saints

Science- All About Animals---Make little notebooks of animal groups

Social Studies--American Symbols

Art-Fall Art

MASS Thursday---All Saint's Mass

October 31st is the last day that shorts may be worn for our uniform. Boys must wear corduroy pants and girls must wear jumpers. Jumpers need to be at an appropriate length.  Thank you parents!!
