Happy October 1st Grade!!

We are moving right along!! The class is working so hard.

Reading- We will be reading, "Oswald Pretends" and "Fiddlesticks" Our story works on the ng and le words. We will be associating the letters le with the "l" sound. We will also be discussing rhyming words and antonyms. Since Fiddlesticks is a fantasy we will compare and contrast reality and fantasy.

Math- Chapter 5- Shapes and patterns-Please keep practicing math facts at home. Addition with +6 went home today....addition and subtraction is something we practice all year.

Religion- We will be learning the different parts of the Rosary since October is the Month of the Rosary-We will also be practicing Hail, Holy Queen-our prayer for this month.  If you would like to say the Rosary at home, but need help in knowing the different parts to the rosary...there are many free apps that can help you and your child.

Science-Finishing Five Senses

Social Studies-Who is in Charge?---parents, police officers, judges, principals---different people are in charge at different places.

Art-Pumpkin art

Family envelopes, pictures, and volunteer hour information went home today. Also, student council is sponsoring a fundraiser for Riley Hanson. Riley Hanson was a sixteen year old high school senior at El Cap who passed away. Students may wear yellow for free dress on Wednesday for $1.  Yellow was Riley's favorite color. She attended preschool here. All proceeds will be donated to her memorial fund.

Have a great week,
