Week of October 3rd

Good Afternoon,

Thank you to all of the parents who have turned in their permission slips. I am looking forward to our field trip and so are the students....11 more days!!! 
The changes that I have made to the classroom are helping a little bit. We are still chatty. The desk fairy also visited our room this week. The desk fairy left a pumpkin eraser for those students whose desks were clean. The students really don't think it is me, please keep this a secret. Thank you for your help in this matter. 

Reading this week: We are finishing up "What Can I Get with a Nickel?" and "My Pet".  Tomorrow we will finish Unit 2. Our workbook will go home tomorrow so you can see what we have worked on during our first two units. Please continue to read at home by logging onto the Superkids website. If you have trouble or need me to resend the log-in email please let me know.

Spelling- why, what, who, where, which, when, then, this, them, super....We have been working on these words since last week and they are a challenge...please look over the practice test that will come home today.

Math-Addition to ten using a number line--packet goes home tomorrow of our work for the past week.

Religion-Creation-What did God create?

Science-We took our Science Test last Friday...it is in our packet that goes home tomorrow...overall the students did very well. Now we will take a break from Science and work on Social Studies.

Social Studies-Our unit is on where we live.  Our school is in Merced, California. We live in California. California is a state. California is part of the United States. The United States of America is a country. Mexico is a country that is south of the United States. Canada is a country that is north of the United States. All of this is simple for adults, but very difficult for students. We are using maps and a globe to try to understand all of this information.

P.E.- Spatial awareness, balance, general coordination, and locomotor skills---leap, slide, jump, skip, hop

TOMORROW-Mass at 11---Blessing of the Animals---12:30 Dismissal----Cross Country Meet at Buhach Colony at 3:30.


HOMEWORK HELP:  Volleyball Season is over today. I can help with homework or anything your child might be struggling with Monday-Thursday till 3:30.
