Hope everyone had a nice winter break! Please make sure they are getting back into school mode. Completing all their homework assignments, studying for tests, and memorizing their times tables. It's a very exciting week with Ash Wednesday and the season of Lent upon us!! Penance services start next week, and our class mass will be next Friday, March 6th.
Homework help Tues & Wed. **Uniform Warning** Boys- Please make sure all boys are wearing belts with their uniforms. This is the standard for 4th grade per handbook. Girls- No leggings!! Only tights may be worn with jumper. OLM sweatshirts and jackets embroidered with our emblem are the only ones allowed in class. Detentions will be given after the 3rd warning. **Cash for Class** Reminder to turn in your receipts from Target, Merced Mall, and all participating stores in the shopping area. A percentage from each receipt will be donated to the school, so we really appreciate everyone's participation. ***This Week*** Tues 2/25 Mardi Gras Free dress Wed 2/26 Ash Wednesday Mass @ 8:15am Thurs 2/27 Eucharistic prayer services will start today @7:15am in the chapel during Lent. All are welcome to attend. Vocab Test - RETAKE for those who got lower than a C grade. Fri 2/28 Stations of the Cross Spelling Test Chapter 3 Test- RETAKE Religion- Start Chapter 12 "The Commandments and Doing God's Will." Read/discuss the chapter and complete activity. Ash Wednesday Mass and Stations of the Cross this week. Math- Students have not completely memorized their times tables!! We started the week off with a drill of all their math facts and no one finished! Please make sure they are going home and memorizing their times tables/flash cards. They are making easy multiplication and addition errors on their tests. We are spending the week going back to multiplication, division, and words problems. They are correcting their mistakes on the Ch 3 test and retaking it on Friday. Please make sure they are studying at home, doing examples, and going over all the work we do in class. Language Arts- Reading Chapters 9-11 "The Indian in the Cupboard." New Vocabulary words this week. Vocab and Reading comprehension tests will be next week. Vocab retakes will be given this week to all students who received below a C. Please make sure they are studying for these tests. If they retake the test, they can not receive a grade any higher than a C. Spelling Unit 18. Grammar plural nouns ending in Y. Writing festival is coming up. We will be writing a short story this week. Social Studies- Week 24 "Gender in Early California." Read and highlight important facts. Crossword puzzle, Think and review questions, and make a Match Activity "Women who made a Difference." Science- Lesson 3 "How can People Treat Ecosystems More Wisely?" Discussing the importance of the 3 Rs, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Review questions and WB 69.

This will be a busy week since its our week before winter break. Make sure students are focused and studying for their tests. Please sign/return all progress reports. We will have a Valentine's Day party on Friday. If students are bringing Valentine's, please make sure they bring them for the ENTIRE class.
