Tomorrow, May 1st, we begin celebrating the Coronation of Mary. Please note it will also be a half day, which would've been 12:30pm dismissal, so it will be a lighter day. Zoom meeting tomorrow at 11am. We had our staff meeting with Mrs Blackburn this morning so please take time to read important messages below:
- If your child is not attending Zoom meetings, they will be marked absent. - If your child is not attending Zoom meetings or turning in some work everyday, there is a chance your child may be held back. - I will be taking attendance using a question/task in google classroom on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays under "Class of 2024." If it's not completed, they will be marked absent. Tuesdays and Thursdays attendance will be taken via Zoom meetings. Please email me if you have any questions/concerns. Missing 7 students from Khan Academy. Please check your school google account email and open the Khan Academy invite to join the math class, sign up, and complete the lesson. Only 5 students logged in and started the lesson, and only 1 student completed it!! That 1 student will receive a homework pass for their effort and free day today to practice their choice of math skills. Way to go!! It's very important for students to check their email everyday. They receive alerts on assignments, Zoom meeting invites, Khan Academy, and IXL updates, so please make it a habit! Please continue to catch up and turn in any missing assignments. Still missing half the class's weekly assessments from last Friday, week 31. Sent out retakes as well if received a 5 or below. Please take the test today!! Hi everyone!! We have 5 weeks of school left!! Please make sure students are pushing through and completing all their assignments. I will accept all work, even late assignments, so please continue to check for missing assignments and turn them in. Also, I only had 1/2 the class complete the studies weekly assessment on Friday. If you have not taken the test, please do so today.

Religion- Read from our Family Life books "God's Gift of Family" Read pages 9-10 together with your family. Read Lesson 1 "Being Needed" pages 11-13. Assignment in Google classroom. Math- Khan Academy. I've assigned a lesson on "Equivalent Fractions." Please watch all the videos and complete the lesson. It will show up in your home page under "assignments." I will be checking your progress and understanding, so please take your time and try your best. Language Arts- Study the story "Me and Uncle Romie" for the Reading test tomorrow. Do RN 85 and RN 86 in google classroom. Writing- Lesson on Informative Writing- How to Write a Book Report in google classroom. Read the lesson and create a google doc for RN 96 and turn it in. Grammar- Finish any RN pages that have not been completed from last week. Social Studies- Week 32 "Dust Bowl, Depression, and World War II." Read the sections "Dust Storm and Depression Change California" and "Boom to Bust and Back Again." Make sure to watch the two videos and feel free to answer the review questions, or click on any games. Science- Chapter 2 Lesson 2 "What Are Rocks." Read pages B42-B44. Make sure to study all the illustrations, pictures, and read all the captions. It will help give a better understanding of the lesson. TUESDAY 4/28 Religion- Read page 14 from our "Family Life" book posted in google classroom and create a google doc to answer Questions 1 and 2. Write in complete sentences. Type out the prompts for #2 and fill in your responses. Math- Still missing 7 students. Please check your school email and find the Khan Academy invite to join Miss Navarro's Math class and sign up. Or add the code EGDURSDK. 5 students have logged in and worked on the "Equivalent Fractions" lesson assigned yesterday, and only 1 student has completed the entire lesson. So for today, please log in and finish. Please watch all the videos and complete the exercises that follow. There is also a review in the middle of the lesson to help with your understanding. ***If you are the 1 student that completed the entire lesson, nice job!! I will be sending a homework pass to your email! Free choice of IXL, Khan, or practice multiplication times tables today. Language Arts- Study "Me and Uncle Romie" and complete Reading Comprehension Test. Posted at 1pm. Read lesson and complete "Planning a Book Report" assignment in google classroom under English class. Due Wednesday. Vocabulary- Study the 10 Vocab terms on pages 226-227. Test tomorrow. Social Studies- Zoom meeting today. We will start the section "Depression Brings Thousands to California" and hopefully finish all sections. We will read and discuss together. Science- Read pages B45-B47 and answer the questions in google classroom. WEDNESDAY 4/29 Religion- "Family Life" book lesson 2. Read pages 15-18. Complete the activity and questions in google classroom. Math- Khan Academy. Please complete the lesson on "Common Denominators." Watch the videos, answer the questions, and read the review. Then take the "Equivalent Fractions and Comparing Fractions Quiz." Everything will appear under assignments on your homepage. I'm still missing 7 students!! Please sign up and complete the 2 lessons. If you haven't completed the lesson from Monday, please do so today! Language Arts- Study the Vocabulary terms from "Me and Uncle Romie" and take the Vocabulary Lesson 8 Test in google classroom under English. Remember to type your name on it. Read the rough draft lesson in google classroom in Writing and create a google doc and type out your rough draft. Due Thursday. Social Studies- If you did not finish the articles from yesterday, please finish reading "Dorothea Lange, Migrant Mother" and turn in Think and Review questions into google classroom. Science- Type out your answers to the lesson 2 review questions on page B47 #1-5 and turn into google classroom. THURSDAY 4/30 Religion- Continue working on the assignments from Lesson 1 and 2 "Family Life" book this week. I counted 14 students that have turned in every assignment this quarter. Great job, you're all caught up!! Please pray the rosary today. The remaining 15 students, please look through all the Religion assignments and complete any that are missing. Math- Khan Academy. I've assigned the lessons "Comparing Fractions with Unlike Denominators Visually" and "Comparing Fractions with Unlike Denominators." Watch all the videos and complete all the exercises. They will appear under assignments on your homepage. Complete Quiz #2 on equivalent fractions and comparing fractions. These are all due today. Please log in and complete it, as well as any other lessons from the week. Language Arts- Do the Reading Comprehension Practice Test 6 in google classroom, Reading class. Type your answers on the doc I have created for you. Take a break from the computer and silent read a book of your choice for 30 mins. Writing- Continue working on your rough drafts in google classroom under Writing class. They are due by the end of the day today. Grammar- IXL. Pick one of the lessons below under Grammar and Mechanics and work for 20 mins. KK. Verb Types #1, 2, and 3 Social Studies- "Dust Bowl Ballads" assignment in google classroom. Finish your Think and Review questions if you did not turn them in yesterday. Science- We will be reading Lesson 3 "What is the Rock Cycle" together for our Zoom meeting. I want you to write your answers to the Review questions on page B53 #1-5 on a piece of paper, in cursive. Take a picture and attach it to the assignment in google classroom. FRIDAY 5/1 Today is a half day. For attendance today, please log into class folder "Class 2024" in google classroom and answer the question between 8am-12:30pm. Religion- We would've celebrated the Coronation of Mary today during mass. The month of May is dedicated to our blessed mother. Please make sure to pray the rosary today. It's Friday, so we will reflect on the Sorrowful Mysteries. Please watch the youtube video "Pope Francis Crowns an Image of Mary" and answer the questions in google classroom. For the Studies Weekly tests, if you get 5/10 or below, I will be returning them and allowing a retake. It's your decision whether or not you want to retake it. I've returned a few this morning, so please email me if you are having trouble accessing it. I will record your higher score. Remember to go back and look through the articles for the answers. Take your time, don't stress. I hope everyone had a good week and remember to get outside and enjoy the sunshine and outdoors safely!! Ask any classwork questions, tech questions, and just see how they're doing. It was nice to hear feedback from them. Some students were able to share their screen as well, so it was great!

I set up another zoom meeting for tomorrow at 11am to finish the story "Me and Uncle Romie." We will start on page 239. Please complete the Reading comprehension questions posted in Reading class on google classroom. I'm in the process of trying to post the recorded Zoom meeting for those who were not able to attend. Will update as soon as I am able. Good morning!! I know some students are missing Religion books. It was a crazy time when we were packing up, to say the least. The kids hadn't seen me all week due to my car accident, and our happy reunion was cut short and rushed trying to get them ready for the 2 weeks at home. We passed out books just as we do every Religion class, but unfortunately, some are missing. Of course we will make it work and I will post all readings on google classroom. I only ask that each student send me an email to say whether or not they have their Religion book. I want to keep an accurate inventory since, like I said, I only had a few books left on the shelf. Just double check, and triple check at home please, just to be certain. Thank you so much for your help and understanding! Zoom meeting today at 11am. Some students have commented that they can't find or do not have their Religion books. I had a list of books on the board and everyone had to do a checklist of every book before they got their backpacks. There were only 2-3 books left on the shelf in the classroom when I left, so everyone should have their book. Please try your hardest to try and find these books please!!!! I was really looking forward to getting all the kids off the computer for these Chapter readings. Please find them!! Please remember to check the blog everyday BEFORE logging in to google classroom. Check at the end of the day, as I will continue to give updates throughout the day. Students need to also check their email everyday. Class invites for Zoom meetings (every Tues & Thurs @ 11am) will be sent to their inbox. Links will also be posted morning of meetings in Reading stream in google classroom.
