Our Lady of Mercy Preschool
September Newsletter The Pre-Kindergarten classrooms are now implementing our new curriculum, Big Day for Pre-K. Please login to the Family Space and work with your child on Theme 2. Ms. Irma’s classroom begins Clifford’s Big World curriculum. The first theme is: Hello, School and Apples. Clifford’s Big Idea: We can share! SAFE ENVIRONMENT TRAINING If you intend to volunteer in the classroom on a regular basis, you are required to complete the online safe environment training and be fingerprinted through the Diocese of Fresno. You can find the training at www.olmlancers.com under “For Current OLM Families” then click on Safe and Sacred Environment. You will have to pay the school $10 for the online training. Paperwork for fingerprinting is in the Preschool office. You will also have to provide a copy of your immunizations to include Tdap; Flu; MMR; and TB clearance. FAMILY ENVELOPES Family envelopes are sent home once a month. Please empty the contents, read and return any forms in need of completion, and sign on the front of the envelope. This system ensures families receive school information and saves on postage. CLASSROOM FILES Each student has a file in the classroom. This file is for the parents/guardians. Please do not let your child take the items from the file. We do teach them that these are for adults. Also, if you need two files, please talk to the classroom teacher. Please check your child’s file everyday. ROSETTA STONE FOREIGN LANGUAGE PROGRAM We will begin a foreign language program in the Pre-K classrooms by October. A form will go home regarding which language you would like your child to learn. Please fill out the form and return to the classroom teacher. Once the language is chosen, it cannot be changed. AGES AND STAGES QUESTIONNAIRES You received 2 questionnaires to fill out and return to school by September 14th. These questionnaires are very important as we get an overall view of your child’s development. The results of these questionnaires will be discussed at parent/teacher conferences in October. VISION SCREENINGS Vision screenings will take place Wednesday, September 5th in the morning. Only students who have a signed permission slip will be able to be screened. If you need another permission slip, please stop by the preschool office or ask your child’s teacher for the form. Last year, these screenings were very accurate and helped several students in our school.
