Mrs. Donavan Happy Monday to everyone!! I do hope everyone had a very much needed weekend and are ready to go for the week! I have sent everyone a private link to our group class on face book! I know we are all out of sorts and therefore I feel if we can find an easy way to connect face to face, the children seeing my face with videos as well as the children seeing each other, can really make this process a lot easier.

I would like to start our prayer this morning; *In the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen *show your parents prayer hands and prayer feet! Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen. Our pledge of allegiance; *remember right hand over our hearts! I pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all. The letters we worked on this week Rr, Yy; So many fun words for our letters this week! Rr: rainbow, rain, rabbit (good job Lorenzo!), red, rat, rain boots, rain coat Yy: yellow, yo-yo, yam, yarn, yes, yak Books: I have sent everyone an invite to GetEpic, our book today; "Join in and Play". I also attached a small quiz, if you can check it out! Any problems just let me know. Social and Emotional: This week was all about joining in to play with friends! As a family we can be doing the same thing. How can we ask our sisters and brothers if we can play too? How do you invite your family to come play with you? I will be updating later in the day as a check in. Do remember I'm only an email way or even comments on the blog if you need to reach out! I do hope everyone is well and enjoying family time. Talk to you soon! Mrs. Donavan Happy Wednesday!! As a class we try to do a simple science projects each Wednesday, with different circumstances I thought how fun it would be for Madison and Parker to do it and share it with our OLM families! This science project is called Lava Lamp. Ingredients:
We filled the three glass jars with water (about 1 cup) and then filled them again with vegetable oil (about 2 cups). From there we placed in food coloring and about a half of a piece of the alka seltzer tablet. Why this works! The water and oil do not mix and the oil doesn’t change color because the food coloring is water soluble. The Alka Seltzer reacts with the water to make bubbles of carbon dioxide. The bubbles attach themselves to the blobs of colored water and bring them to the top of the glass. When the bubbles pop the blobs of colored water fall back to the bottom of the glass. This was an extremely easy science experiment but so fun! I would love to hear comments below on what the children thought why there was a reaction! Everyone should be receiving updated emails with the blog updates as well as an invite to GetEpic. We are still working out a couple kinks and trying to see what works best for everyone. I am enjoying GetEpic and would love to keep seeing your child's projects with the assignments I am including. If you are not receiving any emails or an invite to GetEpic please let me know right away! Tomorrow we will be celebrating Saint Joseph and what better way to celebrate and learn about a Saint than food? Saint celebrations and feast days are marked with a special dish, either from the saint’s country of origin or that share some connection to the saint’s life. For Saint Joseph’s feast day, it’s traditional to serve Italian dishes. You’ll find more traditional dishes for St Joseph’s day, including pasta dishes, and fig cookies. Please share with any fun traditional dishes you may do for St. Joseph. I've attached a coloring page if you would like to color and share with us! Please keeping saying your prayers, working on your letters Rr, Yy. Please keep an eye out for constant emails.
Blessings to you all, Mrs. Donavan Happy Monday everyone! Today has been a rainy day for sure. It was a great day for extra cleaning, checking emails and watching Frozen 2!! All of you are in my constant thoughts and prayers. Today we would be working with the children's favorite puppets Sammie and Eddie and working on our puppet script. If you ask your child about them I'm sure they will brighten up! This weeks concept; noticing what other children are playing and offering ideas for play helps you join in. You could have your child come up with positive ways to join in with their friends. What questions would you ask your friends? How does it make you feel when you ask a friend to play who was playing by themselves? Hopefully you all had a chance to say our prayer for the week Hail Mary; Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.. Today was our letter Rr, I would love for you to ask your child what word(s) start with the letter R and leave them in the comments below!

Needless to say I will be keeping in touch with the blog as well as email. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate you can contact myself; donavan.garrison@olmlancers or Mary; mary.kravec@olmlancers. At this moment everything has been cancelled or postponed until further notice. Below you will see what we would have been working on in class for this week; Social and Emotional: Joining In with Play Clifford: A Teeny Tiny Nest Letters: Rr, Yy Religion: Lent, Saint Patrick Prayer: Hail Mary Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen. For social and emotional this month has been about how to invite friends over to play, the importance of using words and to have fun with friends. In class the children and I go over different scenarios and what would we be able to say when we want to invite friends "would you like to color with me?" "would you like to read a book with me?" Have your child come up with a couple different questions on how to invite friends to play. For this week; joining in with play. We know how to invite friends, but now we are going to learn how to join friends who are already at play. For Clifford; A Teeny Tiny Nest. The next two weeks will be all about animals, eggs and how different animals are born. I will be putting a link in this blog for all of you to be able to log in. When you click on the link you will log in as a student and the password; olm209. This is a such a fun site so please look around and try all the links. Any issues please let me know! https://mybigworld.scholastic.com/home-page-logged-in.html For letters Rr, Yy. As a class we go over our names each day and over any words that start with the letters we are working on this week. Please take the time to ask your child about what words they can think of that start with the letter R and Y. Religion we are going over Lent, Saint Patrick and Stations of the Cross. Lent is a time of reflection and praying. For Saint Patrick; how he merged Christianity with more traditional parts of Irish culture, and creating the Celtic cross, which incorporates the sun with the cross. Saint Patrick used the shamrock as an educational symbol to explain the Holy Trinity to nonbelievers as he converted the Irish to Christianity in the fourth century. For Stations of the cross; shows the journey Jesus took before he died. They show his suffering and the pain on his path to his own crucifixion. It is most popularly visited in churches during Lent. Many people pray, reflect and connect spiritual to the suffering and challenge Jesus endured. As a class we colored the 14 stations of the crosses as well as made churches for each one. Lastly our class prayer. This is our second week working on Hail Mary. I would really love if you could recite this prayer each day so we could really get this prayer down.
I know this was a lot of information for this blog. I know as a class and as a family we can do this all together, and the best part, it's all temporary! Thank you to all the families, friends and especially for all the prayers. In faith this shall pass. Blessings to you all and please tell everyone I said HI!! Mrs. Donavan |
