Dear Pre-K Families,
We have continued to learn about the four seasons. We have been having a great time in the classroom. We have explored many winter centers and explored ice and snow during our fun Friday science experiments. We also had a lot of fun in our beach themed dramatic play area. We have explored how some animals hibernate and even made a 'bear cave' on Friday. Small groups are going very well and this past week we focused on recognizing the letter Qq. In our social emotional curriculum, we have learned the 'calm down' rules. When we have a strong feeling, we put our hands on our tummy and say, "stop!" We identify our feeling and take belly breaths to calm down. We would like to thank our room parent, Mrs. Laura for putting together our class auction item. She worked with the kids to make a beautiful cross. It was fun to see some of you at the event. It was a really fun evening. This week, we celebrate Catholic Schools week. We are very thankful that we are able to teach in a Catholic environment. We would also like to thank you for choosing a Catholic education for your children. Monday morning, we will watch a short movie in the auditorium with our 5th grade reading buddies. On Friday, the school Mass will take place at St. Patrick's church. Unfortunately, we will NOT be able to attend. This week, we will finish up with our seasons theme and do some story extension activities with some fun books about clouds. Thank you, Mrs. Veronica

Dear Pre-K Families, We are in our second week of our Seasons All Around theme. This week, we are learning about how the seasons change throughout the year. We will also learn how animals and living things change throughout the year. We will begin small groups this week. Small groups will be added to our day. Two groups will be teacher directed and the other two will be independent groups. Please remember that the classroom opens at 7:50am. This gives your child enough time to use the restroom and sign in. During sign in, I move throughout the room to work with the children on letter formation with their name. Class will begin promptly at 8:00am. We will do our best to stay on schedule to be able to add in the small groups. We will observe the holiday for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 20th. The preschool along with the entire school will be closed. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 21st. In preparation, we will be learning about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In religion, we will discuss how we can love others. In our social emotional curriculum, we will continue to learn about strong feelings. Our nursery rhyme this week is 3 Little Kittens. Our school's biggest fundraiser is coming up on Saturday, January 25th. This is a really fun event. Our class has been working with Mrs. Laura, one of our room moms, to create a yarn wrapped twine cross that will be auctioned off that evening. We would like to thank her for putting this together. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at [email protected] Thank you, Mrs. Veronica Dear Pre-K Families,
Welcome back, and Happy New Year!! We hope that you all have had a wonderful Christmas break and enjoyed the time together with your families. We would like to thank you for all your kindness and generosity. We have been truly blessed with great families like you. We are so excited to jump right into the swing of things. I will begin the year with a quick individual reassessment of each child on their knowledge of upper and lowercase letters. We will begin with our theme Seasons all Around. We will be exploring the four seasons: fall, winter, spring, and summer. Week one is about the weather report. We will continue working with curved letters as we explore the letter Uu. We will be also be exploring a lot of things pertaining to winter as we learn about sets up to 10, explore ice/snow weather, thermometers and hibernation. In our social emotional curriculum, we will focus on Emotion Management - "We Feel Feelings in Our Bodies." For students that attend school on Fridays, we will attend Mass. Please have your child arrive early so they have time to use the bathroom before we leave. They should wear their blue OLM t-shirt. We will have a Fun-Friday Activity with ice when we return to class. If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected]. Please remember to check the classroom blog weekly for all information that pertains to our class at olmancer.com. Click the current families classroom blogs and find Pre-K with Mrs. Veronica.
