Dear OLM Pre-K families,
We hope that you enjoyed your week off for winter break. We will continue with our last week of our theme Construction Zone. It has been a lot of fun and we sure have enjoyed seeing all the fun things that you have made with your children for show and tell. If your child missed their day or were not able to get their item made, please make something with your child and send it in this week. We will have a review week for our alpha friends this week. Our class will be doing some fun story extensions for our story about the Three little pigs. We will also have fun exploring the nursery rhyme Row, row, row, your boat. With the beginning of Lent, we have been talking about being kind. We have read social stories and shared ways to be kind with our families and friends. Please check out some of their ideas on our outside wall. We will continue to talk about Lent and how we can be closer to Jesus by praying, giving and fasting. We will begin learning the Stations of the Cross. There will be an all school Mass on Friday in the Auditorium. Please have your child wear their OLM t-shirt if it is their day to attend class. Sign ups for Parent Teacher conferences are posted in the class. If the days and/or time slots are not good for you, please let me know and I am happy to arrange a different day. I hope that you have been busy selling See's Candy. Please remember that those are due soon. If your child will be attending Kindergarten at OLM next year, the Kindergarten information night is on March 7th. Please plan to attend. If you are not sure, please plan to attend and hear about it before you decide to go elsewhere. There will be a drawing for a free registration given out that night for attending. It looks like a very cold week this week and some rain. Please send in a warm jacket for your child to wear when we go outside. Thank you, Mrs. Veronica

Dear Pre-K Families,
The year seems to be flying by. We are already into the month of February. What a Busy time. Last week we celebrated our 90th anniversary with the Auction. We wanted to thank our Room parents, Mr. Matt Van Hagen and our classroom friend Mr. Joe Jarret for making the American Flag out of fire hoses. Mrs. Jami Gibson did the writing on the back. It was truly beautiful and raised over $1,000 for our school. Mr. Jarret offered to make a second flag that was auctioned off in the live auction that also raised over $1,000. We are so grateful for his generosity. Catholic school week concluded with a Mass at St. Patrick's church on Friday. During the Mass, 16 children were Baptized into the Catholic Church. including a few friends from our class. Last week, our Alpha friend was Benny Bear Bb. We started our new theme, The Construction Zone. This is a really fun theme. If you haven't had a chance, please stop by our classroom. It is "under Construction." We will have many fun things for the children to explore. We will be learning about building, and making things. I have real tools that they will get to learn about as well as many fun things at center time. Last week I sent home the show and tell schedule for this theme which is "something I have made." Please have your child make something either on their own or with family help and that will be their show and tell. Please check the calendar for their show and tell day. Be creative and have fun. This week, Our Alpha friend will be Mini Mouse Mm. We will continue with small groups which have been going very well. This week we will be working on Valentine's Day prep. We will be making Valentine bags so that the children can exchange valentines. We have 24 students in our class. Please have your child write their own name on each valentine. This is good practice at writing their name. Please do not address the valentines in the To: spot. I will be making a signup sheet for a special treat for Tuesday, February 13th. We will celebrate Valentine's Day on Tuesday, February 13th in our class. Wednesday, February 14th happens to be Ash Wednesday. This is a day of fasting and a Mass day. We will be attending Mass in the auditorium at 8:15am. Please have your child wear their OLM t-shirt. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. We will be learning about Lent, and learning about the stations of the cross. Each child will be making a wooden cross. They will have the opportunity to sand it, hammer the nail in it and paint it. These crosses will then be blessed by the priest and sent home before Easter. We do this every year and carry our cross as we pray the Rosary during our outside stations of the cross that we will pray during Holy Week. Our preschool is also doing a See's Candy Fundraiser. Mrs. Mary has asked each family to contribute by selling at least $100 of See's Candy. This fundraiser will help pay off the remainder of our playground renovation. We will have our All School Mass at St. Patrick's church on Saturday, February 10th at 5:00pm. If you attend, please have your child wear their OLM t-shirt. The week of February 19th - 23rd, the preschool will be closed for winter break. I will be putting a signup sheet in the classroom for parent teacher conferences the week of March 19th. If my assigned days do not work for you, please let me know and I am happy to reschedule something that works for you. Thank you, Mrs. Veronica |
