Dear Pre-K families, Welcome back from winter break, we hope you enjoyed some nice time with your family. We are in week 3 of our theme Imagine it, Make it. This week our Big Idea is: I can use different materials to make new things. I can invent things. This week, our focus will be on Things We Build. We will be engaging in a lot of story extension activities around the story of The Three Little Pigs. Our letter for this week will be Oo, We will continue to work on rhyming, and story retelling. We will also continue with show and tell. We will continue to talk about imagination. creativity, and being the best 'me' that I can be. We are encouraging them to imagine it, dream about it, create it and make it. I found a fun song on YouTube that the children really enjoyed that is encouraging. Sesame Street Will.i.am Sings "What I am". We will also be talking about some famous inventors and people that inspire us. Thank you for replenishing your child's school supply box. If you were not able to send it back, please send it in by the end of the week. I will continue to assess the children in preparation of mid-year parent teacher conferences. Sign ups are posted in the classroom. If you are in need of additional time slots, please contact me, I am happy to make arrangements with you. Kindergarten informational night is this Wednesday, February 27th at 6:00pm in the school auditorium. Please plan to attend even if you are not sure if your child will be attending OLM next year. They usually will have a drawing for a free registration fee. This Sunday, we will celebrate an OLM school Mass at St. Patrick's Church during the 1:00pm Mass. If your family attends, please have your child wear their OLM t-shirt to represent our school. Next week we will begin the season of Lent. Lent will begin on Ash Wednesday, March 6th. Mass will begin at 8:15am in the school auditorium and ashes will be distributed at the end. If your child attends school on Wednesdays, we will be attending the Ash Wednesday Mass. Family members are always welcome to attend. Thank you, Mrs. Veronica

Dear Pre-K Families,
Last week, we had a lot of fun with our new theme. We imagined we were going on a trip to outer space. We made a list of things we needed for our trip and then we pretended to gather them and build a spaceship. We also read a few fun books, including Not a Box by Antoinette Portis. Please visit our block area where we have student work on display. We also read 10 Black Dots by Donald Crews. Story extension artwork is displayed in the hallway. We are in week 2 of our theme: Imagine it, Make it. This week we will explore tools. Tools we use to build, tools we use for science, technological tools and tools we use in the classroom. We will be revisiting patterns and rhyming words. Our letter this week is the letter Nn. We will start Show and Tell on Monday. Please see the calendar that went home last week with your child's Show and Tell day. A posted copy is on display in the classroom. Please remember not to send in toys. The theme is Something I Have Made. The Show and Tell item is something your child has been able to make or be made with your family's help. We will continue to prepare for Valentine's day and also explore things we can do to be kind. We will have a special snack on Thursday. If your child will be bringing valentines for the class, please leave the To: space blank, but have your child sign their own name on each card in the From: spot. This is good name writing practice. Our entire school will be closed next week for winter break. Please enjoy this time with your family. We will send your child's school supply box home at the end of the week, please check it for items that may be missing. If your child does not have the crayola glue, the Dollar Tree has them for only a $1. This glue really is the best for them. It doesn't get clogged like Elmer's. They will be less frustrated when they sit down to do a project. Thank you, Mrs. Veronica Dear Pre-K Families,
Happy February!! We will be starting our new theme, Imagine it, Make It. Week #1 is about Using My Imagination. The BIG Idea Is: I can imagine all kinds of things. We will be talking about imagination and creativity. Our social emotional focus will be on initiative. During this theme, we will be doing show and tell. I will put out a calendar with each child's assigned show and tell day. Our show and tell theme will be something I have made. This will be a project that your child can do at home alone or with family members. Please send in your child's project on the day of their assigned show and tell. Please start planning your project now. We have 2 weeks of theme before we leave for winter break. We will conclude our theme during the two weeks when we return. There will be an OLM school Mass at St. Patrick's church during the 5:00pm Mass on Saturday, February 9th. If your family attends, please have your child wear their OLM t-shirt. We will also be preparing for Valentines day. If your child would like to bring Valentine cards for the class, please have them prepare 25 cards. Please have them leave the To: space blank and have them sign their own name in the From: space. This is good practice writing their name. We will have a Valentine's snack on Thursday, February 14th, if your child attends school on that day. Thank you, Mrs. Veronica |
