Dear Pre -K Families
This week begins Holy week and the end of Lent. Lent began on Ash Wednesday. We start this week celebrating Palm Sunday, Good Friday and then Easter on Sunday. During the past 40 days, we have been learning about being closer to Jesus during this time of Lent through prayer, fasting and giving. We have been learning about the Stations of the Cross and if you ask your child, I think they can tell you about them. This will be a busy week for us before we conclude on Thursday for break. There will be a donation bag in the classroom for each family to donate $2.00 towards a Pizza snack for Thursday, March 29th, if your child attends that day. On Wednesday, March 28th, our class will pray the Stations of the Cross in the back play yard as they carry their own cross. Mrs. Rebecca helped out in our class and was able to teach the children about tools and tool safety as she showed them how to sand wood and helped them to nail their cross together. They also painted them and I was able to take them to the Church and Father John blessed them for us. When they bring them home this week, please remember to take care of them as they have been blessed. I hope you will save it as a memory of their faith and time here at preschool. On Wednesday, I will provide a special snack, and if your family would like to send in a small candy or treat for their Easter baskets that would be appreciated. Also on Wednesday our School Student Council will be assisting the Easter Bunny with providing a special treat for our preschool children. Thursday, we will attend morning prayer in the auditorium with the rest of the school and watch the 1st graders and 8th graders reenact the live Stations of the Cross and the Last Supper. We will have Pizza lunch around 10:30 and the entire school will be dismissed promptly at 12:30pm. There will not be afternoon classes on Thursday. We wish you and your families a blessed Easter and a wonderful week off with your families. Classes will resume on Monday, April 9th. A few other things.... I really enjoyed meeting with parents during parent teacher conferences. If you were not able to attend, please let me know and I am happy to schedule something with you after break. We will still continue to collect pennies and dimes or other money to put towards our Relay for Life event through the month of April. Please remember to turn in your Kindergarten registrations. Most of our class will be attending and spots will fill up quickly. If your family is in need of Summer care, our preschool provides care from 7:30am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday. It is open to children 2 1/2 years old through 6 years old as long as they are enrolled in our school. If you have any questions, please let me know or you may also speak with Mrs. Mary. Thank you, Mrs. Veronica

Dear Pre-K Families,
This week, our Alpha Friend will be Andy Apple Aa. We will continue with our 2nd week of our Animals Everywhere theme. The children have been having fun in our dramatic play area with the Pre-K Pet Vet Clinic. They have been very busy taking care of our classroom pets. During small groups, we wrote the word fish and drew fish surrounding. We also worked on AB and ABC patterns as well as sorting cats by color and making a graph to show how many. This week we will learn about St. Patrick, sort big and small and classify animals by body coverings; fur, feathers, scales. As we are discussing animals, if you would like to send in a picture of your pet, we will make a poster of them. Tuesday, will be pictures with the bunnies. If you would like your child to have bunny pictures, please turn in your order form by Tuesday morning. Only children with order forms will go down for pictures. As we continue to prepare for Easter, and learn about Lent, we have been praying the Stations of the Cross. Last week, we learned the first 5 stations. We will continue learning a new one everyday. During Lent, we are talking about being closer to God by praying, fasting and giving. Our service project is to collect money for Relay for Life. We are collecting pennies, and filling a water bottle with dimes. If your child would like to contribute, please send some in. This year we have been included in the "penny war" that the main part of the school has started. The goal is to collect more pennies in our bucket than silver coins or dollars. Other classes can sabotage our penny collection by adding in dollars or silver coins which puts us in the negative. Past preschool students are having a lot of fun coming to our class in the morning or afternoon to sabotage us. It's all fun and fun to see them. If you would like to join the OLM Relay for Life team, you can sign up and commit to raise/donate $100 at www.relayforlife.org/mercedca our team name is OLM Lancers. Thank you for attending the Kindergarten information night last week. Congratulations to Erin's family for winning the free registration. If you were not able to attend and would like to find out more about our kindergarten program, please let me know and I will get you a packet. This week, there is a teacher in-service so there will not be classes held at OLM for the main school or preschool on Friday, March 16th. Thank you, Mrs. Veronica here to edit. Dear Pre-K parents,
March marks the last 3 months of our school year. We are very busy in the classroom. The kids seemed to have a lot of fun with the retelling of the 3 little pigs. We had pretend play in our playhouse with the 3 houses and stuffed animal '3 little pigs' and 'the big bad wolf.' We also retold the story at small group time, in a small world play as well as building straw, stick and brick houses with sand play dough. We have concluded our Construction Zone Theme. This week, we begin a new theme, Animals Everywhere. Our Alpha Friend is Fifi Fish Ff. We will be talking about fish and cats this week. We will also be sorting and graphing cats, and working again on ab and abc patterns. See's candy orders will be due this week,. Kindergarten information night is also this week, Wednesday, March 7th at 6pm. A lucky winner will receive a free registration. I hope you will all attend even if you are not sure. We continue to learn about lent and how we can get closer to Jesus. We will also be praying the Stations of the Cross. If you have not signed up for parent teacher conference, please see the sign up sheet. I am happy to schedule another day or time if that works better for you. I look forward to seeing some of you at the Crab Feed on Saturday. Thank you, Mrs. Veronica |
