Dear Pre-K Families,
We had a fun week last week. We worked on review of letters Aa-Ee. We also talked about using our senses to investigate apples. We did some apple tasting and decided that our class liked Green Granny Smith apples the best,. Our dramatic play area has turned into an Apple Orchard. We also have been making "apple pie" with our apple scented play dough. This week we will begin our new theme, Our Community. Our social emotional focus will be on responsibility. We will be learning about the role of community in our lives and the importance of good citizenship. Week 1 will be about places we go in our community. Our letter of the week will be letter Ff. We will also be learning about St. Francis. Thursday is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. St. Francis is the patron saint of animals. On Friday, our school will celebrate with a school Mass at 11:00am outside. There will be a blessing of the animals. If your family would like to attend, you may take your pet to the mass and it will be blessed. Preschool will not be attending the Mass as it will be during our lunch. Please feel free to sign your child out if you would like to take them. Thank you, Mrs. Veronica

Dear Pre-K Families,
We are in our last week of our My Family theme-All kinds of families. The Big Idea this week is Every Family is Unique. We will also continue to talk about being kind to our family members and friends. We will talk about how some families are the same and some families are different and explore ways in which every family is special. This week we will review letters Aa - Ee. In math, we will discuss ways to sort objects, and in science we will introduce children to the idea of using their senses by talking about how the children are feeling temperature, tasting, and smelling. On Wednesday, we will celebrate September Birthdays with a special snack. Please see the sign up in the class if your child has a birthday this month. I will continue to assess the children in class for upcoming parent/teacher conferences in October. Please sign up for a time that works for you, if you need a different time, please let me know and I am happy to work with you. Looking ahead... October 5th will be the Blessing of the Animals Mass in front of the school. If you would like to attend with your pet and your child, please feel free to take them out of class. Preschool will not attend as a class because the mass is at 11:00am during our lunch time. On October 6th, our school will have the Oktoberfest fundraiser at Hunter Farms starting at 6:00pm. This is an adult only event. If you have any questions, please contact me at [email protected] Dear Pre-K Parents,

We are in week 2 of our 2nd theme, My Family- We Take Care of Each Other. Our letter of the week will be letter Dd. Our Big Idea is, I love my family and they love me. We will be discussing caring and kindness, family roles and responsibilities, interdependence, and feelings. We will also focus on learning more about the Holy Family. I will also be conducting one-on-one assessments with each student over the next few weeks. We would like to welcome two new families to our class. We are blessed that our school family is growing. Please remember to sign in your student in the morning and out at pick up time. Your student must be signed in and out by a person that is 18 years of age or older. The classroom opens at 7:45am. If your child arrives earlier than that, please check them into room 10. Our morning routine is to wash our hands and use the restroom before entering the classroom. Please have your student arrive with enough time that they are able to sign in before 8:00am. At 8:00am, we begin with our morning message and prayer/Pledge of Allegiance. We will continue to work on Friend of the Day and continue to have students show and tell about their Super Kid Posters. As we finish, we have been sending them home. Every other week, we have been visiting the school garden with our 6th grade science buddies. Our Preschool students planted pumpkins this summer and they have been planted in the school garden where we are growing our own pumpkin patch. We were soo excited to see that small pumpkins are already starting to form. On Wednesday, we are visited by our 5th grade reading buddies and enjoy listening to them read to us. Thursdays, we go around the room and ask for prayer intensions from each student. This gives them a chance to pray for someone they care about. Thursday is also our day to visit the school Library. We always enjoy our time with Mrs. Poole, the school Librarian. On the last Wednesday of the month, we celebrate all birthdays from the month. We will have a special birthday snack sign up for the children celebrating. If your family would like to contribute to the special snack, you can sign up on the bulletin board. The last Friday of the month is usually the day that preschool provides a lunch to donate to St. Vincent De Paul for those that may not have food to eat for lunch. We send home a lunch bag that your child has colored that you may fill and return on Friday. Reminder, the Ages and Stages Questionnaires are due by Friday, September 14th. This is printed from my teacher blog which you can view weekly at olmlancers.com Also, please remember to check out the Family Space of Big Day for Pre K for BookFlix videos, activities, games, downloadables, resources and more. If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected] Thank you, Mrs. Veronica Dear Pre-K families,
We hope you have enjoyed the 3 day weekend with your family. This week we will begin our 2nd theme, My Family. Week one will explore 'who's in my family.' Our BIG IDEA is 'I am an important part of my family' and how we can be kind to each other. We will be working on the letter Cc and learning about shapes. We will begin Friend of the Day this week. Friend of the Day is a new friend every day. We will cheer their name and the entire class will write that friends name and draw a picture of them in a large group setting. This is a great way to learn to follow directions and practice proper letter formation. We will have a busy week this week. Wednesday 9/5 we will conduct vision screenings. If you would like your child to have a vision screening, you must turn in the consent form. If you have not turned in the consent form, they will not be able to participate. Please let us know if you need a new one. Friday 9/7 we will attend School Mass in the Auditorium at 8:15am. Saturday 9/8 is the OLM Foundation International night fundraiser. Tickets are $35 and available in the main office. Thank you, Mrs. Veronica |
