We have just finished up our theme about My Five Senses. We had a lot of fun tasting apples, and feeling different textures on our sensory tray. We used our nose to smell fun play dough, one week it was blue raspberry and then it was apple pie play dough. We also had fun in our 'Apple Orchard' play house. I introduced the class to a light table where they could see different colored stones as the light shined up through them. Last week we had a lot of fun with a few books by the author Herve Tullet one was called PRESS HERE and the other was called MIX IT UP. Both were great books and the children had a lot of fun with dots and mixing colors. Our new theme is 'My Family, My Community.' This week we will focus on families, and the Holy Family. We will also be learning about St. Francis. There will be a school mass on Friday and blessing of the animals. All are welcome to join and accompany your pet to be blessed. Preschool will not be able to attend as a class as it will be going on during our lunch time. October is the month of the Rosary. We are learning about the rosary and later in the month our class will create a large chalk rosary in the back circle with our 5th grade reading buddies. The entire school will pray the rosary in the back of the school circle.
