Dear pre-k families,
Welcome back! I hope you have all enjoyed your Thanksgiving break and spending time together as a family. We will be having a lot of fun during the next 4 weeks until we break for Christmas. This week, we will focus on transitioning our classroom to Christmas. We will also be preparing for the upcoming Advent season. Advent is the 4 weeks that lead up to the birth of Jesus. We will have a flex week this week and will use it to explore the books by Herve' Tullet: Press Here, Mix It Up, and Let's Play! These books have been favorites of our classes in the past, and we will be engaging in many story extensions throughout the week. We will also begin practicing for the Christmas Program. The Christmas program will take place on Wednesday, December 19th at St. Patrick's Church in the evening. We will appear in the play along with the 8th grade class. Please let me know if your child will be unable to attend on that evening so that we can plan the parts. Some upcoming events for OLM... This Saturday, December 1st, the OLM student council will be in the Merced City Christmas parade. This is a fun event that takes place on Main Street. Please attend with your family and cheer on the OLM float as it goes by. Sunday, December 2nd, please visit the Merced County Courthouse Museum. Open house is from 1:00-4:0pm. Admission is free and the OLM Christmas Choir will sing from 1:30-1:50pm in the old courtroom. This is a fun event and cookies are provided. Please visit the 3 OLM Christmas trees set up in the old courtroom. If you have any questions, please contact me. Thank you, Mrs. Veronica .

Dear Pre-K Families,
I would like to thank Reed's mom, Ryan's Mom and Rylee's Grandmother for helping us in our classroom on Halloween day. I would also like to thank all those who donated items towards our Pumpkin Patch Party. It was a really fun week. It was so nice to see so many of our families at the Halloween carnival. Thank you to all the bakers that made our cake-walk so festive. We have just two weeks until we break for Thanksgiving week. This week we will be talking about the first thanksgiving and what kinds of things we are thankful for. We will start making our Native American Indian Costumes to wear on the day of our Thanksgiving Feast. We will be joining with Miss C's class who will be the Pilgrims. During this time we will also continue to review what we have learned during the first 3 themes. We will be learning some fun Thanksgiving songs. On Wednesday, we will walk down to the auditorium and visit the 8th graders as they will be presenting what they have learned about saints during their 'Wax Museum.' They have researched a saint of their choice and will be dressing up as the saint. If you are interested in walking through please join in. It is a very beautiful tradition. On Thursday, our school will celebrate Veteran's day. We will attend the presentation beginning at 8:30am in our school auditorium. Our class along with Miss C's class will be on stage and lead the school with the Pledge of Allegiance. Please have your child wear their OLM t-shirt. Please feel free to add any red white and blue to show patriotism. This is a really wonderful presentation. If you are a Military Soldier or Veteran or know someone that would like to attend, they are welcome. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE ENTIRE SCHOOL WILL CLOSE PROMPTLY AT 12:30PM ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH. THERE WILL NOT BE ANY AFTERNOON DAYCARE. SCHOOL WILL BE CLOSED ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 9TH AND MONDAY NOVEMBER 12TH. CLASSES WILL RESUME ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 13TH. We will be welcoming the Accreditation team to our school this week. We are excited to share with them the things we have been doing. Looking ahead to next week, Wednesday November 14th we will be watching the Thanksgiving program in the morning in the auditorium. Wednesday evening will be the OLM Thanksgiving program and dinner. Our class is not in this program but all are invited to attend. The turkey dinner is delicious. Miss C's class will perform. Thursday November 15th, the preschool will celebrate the Thanksgiving Feast. We will have a special Thanksgiving turkey meal. The preschool children will go on parade around the school in our costumes. Please let me know if you are interested in helping out that day. Thank you, Mrs. Veronica |
