Dear Pre-k parents, I hope you all enjoyed a family day today. So many things are happening; it has become necessary for me to blog two times this week. There are a few things that we are doing and if you are able to help out, that would be great. -If you happen to read this today, on Wednesday, I asked the kiddos to bring in some leaves on Thursday 11/12 for another fun leaf project that we are going to do. -Please remember that if you are able to turn in your family picture page by Friday, I will be able to make another fun class book for the kids to share. -We are going to participate in the Operation Christmas Child ShoeBox project. Our class will be assembling 2 shoe boxes for children age 2-4 years old. Please see the family envelope for guidelines on things that are appropriate to donate. If you are able to donate a few items, that would be great. Please send items in with your child by Monday, 11/16. -We are also collecting food items for the Catholic Charities Thanksgiving food drive. We are asking preschoolers to donate 2 cans of corn or peas. -November 19th is picture retake day if you feel you need to have your child retake their school picture. Please let me know and please return the entire picture packet. -Please remember that Friday, 11/20 is a 12:30 dismissal day for preschool. There will not be any afternoon childcare. All preschool students will need to be picked up by 12:30. Preschool will resume on Monday, 11/30. -Please support our school's annual Deep Pit Turkey dinner. This year it is take-out style. Tickets are $15.00 each and the form is in the family envelope. Order forms are due by Monday, 11/16. Dinners may be picked up in the back of the school between 2:30 and 6:00pm on Friday, November 20th. Lastly, I know that the upcoming extended break for our K-8 students may be difficult for some families to manage child care and dropping off their preschoolers. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I do teach an online zoom class everyday at 2:45. May God bless your families -Mrs. Veronica

We are fully into our fall fun and learning about being thankful in preparation for Thanksgiving. We will also learn about Thanksgiving traditions and foods. We have been really busy making leaf rubbings and playing with our new fall harvest sensory boxes. On Friday, I introduced them to pumpkin spice play dough and we are using it to make turkeys with googly eyes and feathers. We also started painting pumpkins on the paint easel to add to our pumpkin patch. We will be reviewing Second Step social emotional concepts that we learned in units 1-6 as well as math patterns, syllables and rhyming.
Last week, we finished up with our ABC Boot Camp. We had such a fun time, and the kids had so much fun learning letters and sounds and making the silly hats. We will continue to review letters and sounds, and I will be doing an update assessment on their letter and sound knowledge. At the beginning of the year, we made a class book out of the All About Me page that each child brought in. It has become the class favorite and the children continue to be excited to get to read it on a daily basis. With that in mind, it is necessary to add in additional class books to keep them all happy. I have sent home a letter on information to make a family book. Please return your family page by Friday, November 13th so that I will be able to get it into their hands the week of Thanksgiving as it will be a great time to talk about our families. I am also having them make a fun fall book in class. This upcoming Wednesday, November 11, there will not be school. We will observe Veteran's day and take the day off. School will resume on Thursday, November 12th. Next Friday, November 20, we will close preschool promptly at 12:30 for Thanksgiving break. There will not be any afternoon classes on that day; all preschool students will need to be picked up by 12:30. We will be off the entire week of November 23rd and preschool will resume on Monday, November 30th. Preschool will be in regular session during the Month of December. We will be in session for 3 weeks and break for the Christmas holiday on Friday, December 18th. Preschool will resume on Monday, January 4th. I know this is conflicting with the schedule from Kinder-8th, and will make it different if you have an older child that attends there. We are grateful to be able to continue teaching your children during this time. I have been so blessed to become a part of their life and they bring such joy to me everyday. Have a blessed week, Mrs. Veronica |
