Dear Pre-k Parents,
We had a busy week getting back into the swing of things. We started off with a review of rules and routines, and jumped right into learning about Advent and the true meaning of Christmas. Our classroom is fully into the season. We have our Advent wreaths hung in the block area and we lit our first candle for hope. We have been busy making ornaments for our two Christmas trees in the dramatic play area. Our boxes have been updated with the Holy Family and some STEM building items to create a Nativity scene. We have also added a jingle bell box so we can explore with magnet fun. We reviewed letters Pp, Cc, Dd and Gg. We also had a visit from St. Nicolas on Friday; the children put out a stocking and were surprised when they found treats in them. We celebrate the feast of St. Nicolas on December 6th. This week, we celebrate the feast of the Immaculate Conception on Tuesday, December 8th. We will learn about St. Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe. We will celebrate the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 11. This week we will light the 2nd candle on our Advent wreath that represents love. This week we will continue to review letters Mm, Nn, Oo, Qq, and Rr. We have one Birthday celebration this month and we will celebrate it on Thursday. I will be posting a sign up for our class Christmas party that will take place on Thursday, December 17th. We have decided to do a toy drive to help children in need. If you are able, please send in a new toy unwrapped for age 2-4 years old by Wednesday, December 16th. Reminders: -Mrs. Mary is doing a Scholastic Book order. Books are a great gift for the holiday. Orders are due by December 9th. For orders over $25, enter code READS for free shipping to your home. -Please remember to send in appropriate weather clothes for their extra change of clothes. -Please remember to send in a sweater or sweatshirt for inside the classroom. Please remember that we have to keep the windows open and fans circulating. -Please check with me to inventory their school supply box. We are going through the glue sticks very quickly as well as their dry erase markers. They are really enjoying their dry erase boards this year. School will close promptly at 12:30 on Friday, 12/18, for Christmas break. Classes will resume on Monday, January 4th. I know it has been difficult for some of our kiddos with their siblings on extended vacation. We have talked about it at school and we continue to be thankful for the ability to be able to remain in class. Please let me know if students will not be attending school or if you need homework. Thank you, Mrs. Veronica
