Dear Pre-K Families,

We had such a fun week getting to know each other.  We have started with our new social emotional curriculum from Second Step.  Some welcome letters were sent home with parent information and home links.  I hope you will find it helpful.  The first week was about welcoming friends and introducing ourselves to others.  This week we will be learning about the listening rules.  We have also been very busy learning how to play in our centers.  We will continue to open new centers daily.  
 
This week we will also continue to read social stories that help us to follow the classroom rules.  We will talk about being a Super Friend and introduce the Bible.  We have been learning how to hold our crayon and working on pre-writing skills.  We will be learning how to use our school supply box as we learn scissor safety and proper ways to use glue.  We will begin introducing nursery rhymes starting with Humpty Dumpty and also begin Friend of the Day.  Friend of the Day is where we cheer a new friend's name each day and the class writes that child's name.  It is a fun activity and helps us to recognize names as well as practice writing letters and letter direction. 

Last week, the family envelope was sent home.  Please go through the paper work and return the envelope with any papers you need to send back.  You can hand it to a teacher or Mrs. Mary.
