Dear Pre-K Families,
We hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving break and were able to enjoy this time off with your family and friends. As we return back to school, we begin the liturgical season of Advent. Advent is the time we prepare ourselves for the birth of Jesus Christ. It is a time of waiting. This week, we light the first Advent candle. The first candle is purple, and we light it to remind us of the 'hope' we have in our hearts that Jesus will be born soon. There are four weeks in Advent. We will be learning about Advent and preparing for the coming of Jesus. The children painted a wreath and traced their hands so we could make an Advent wreath to hang up. Each week we will 'light' a new candle as we learn about its significance. Please remember to save the date of Wednesday, December 18th. This is the date of the OLM Christmas program. The 8th graders put on a play and our class joins in on the fun. This will be at St. Patrick's church at 6:00pm. We will provide costumes for the children. As I receive more information, I will keep you informed. We will start practicing this week. If, for any reason, your child will not be able to participate that evening, please let me know as soon as possible. This week we will also be working on letters V, Z, and P. We will also be working on sentence segmenting and fine motor skills. We will also be learning about St. Nicholas as we celebrate St. Nicholas Day on Friday, December 6th. That is also a Mass day for students that attend on Friday. Please have your child wear their blue OLM t-shirt that day. We will be helping out at the mass along with our 5th grade reading buddies. We are also seeking donations of canned fruit for the Spirit of Christmas dinner. If you are able, please also send a wrapped toy and indicate whether it is for a boy or girl and the age appropriateness for the present. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please contact me. Thank you, Mrs. Veronica
