Dear Pre-K Families,
Last week, we had a lot of fun with our new theme. We imagined we were going on a trip to outer space. We made a list of things we needed for our trip and then we pretended to gather them and build a spaceship. We also read a few fun books, including Not a Box by Antoinette Portis. Please visit our block area where we have student work on display. We also read 10 Black Dots by Donald Crews. Story extension artwork is displayed in the hallway. We are in week 2 of our theme: Imagine it, Make it. This week we will explore tools. Tools we use to build, tools we use for science, technological tools and tools we use in the classroom. We will be revisiting patterns and rhyming words. Our letter this week is the letter Nn. We will start Show and Tell on Monday. Please see the calendar that went home last week with your child's Show and Tell day. A posted copy is on display in the classroom. Please remember not to send in toys. The theme is Something I Have Made. The Show and Tell item is something your child has been able to make or be made with your family's help. We will continue to prepare for Valentine's day and also explore things we can do to be kind. We will have a special snack on Thursday. If your child will be bringing valentines for the class, please leave the To: space blank, but have your child sign their own name on each card in the From: spot. This is good name writing practice. Our entire school will be closed next week for winter break. Please enjoy this time with your family. We will send your child's school supply box home at the end of the week, please check it for items that may be missing. If your child does not have the crayola glue, the Dollar Tree has them for only a $1. This glue really is the best for them. It doesn't get clogged like Elmer's. They will be less frustrated when they sit down to do a project. Thank you, Mrs. Veronica
