I can't believe we are already heading into September. We have been busy in the classroom with learning our color(s), shape(s), first letter in our names, counting 1-10 in English and Spanish, and continuing social and emotional.
     This month will be all about our families and who is Mother Mary. Please turn in your ASQ and ASQ-SE by the end of this week, if you have any questions please let me know. I hope all of you have had a chance to really look into Seesaw, I have been downloading photos and videos for each child. This is a great avenue to check in with what your child is up to in the classroom everyday. We will be closed the following Monday 9/7 for labor day.

    This month is just flying by! Last week the class stayed inside most of the week do to the bad air quality but it didn't stop our class from learning and having a great week! As a class, we worked on the color red, our first letter in our name(s), sizes; large, medium and small and the shape, circle. We are also keeping up with learning about our routine and the classroom rules.  The children really enjoy playing I spy as a class, we are searching the classroom for shapes, colors and even letters.

     ASQ and ASQ-SE assessments have started to go out to all the families. Participation is extremely helpful, please return when you have it completed. Results will be returned back. I have also started our Seesaw Class. This is a fun way to stay connected with your child in their classroom environment. Please check your email to find your Seesaw code. We are moving right along in our classroom! We are continuing to work on our classroom rules inside the class as well as our outside rules. The children are doing very well and acclimating smoothly. This week we will be working on colors, shapes at group time and from there we use our eyes to look around our environment to find anything with the color or shape we are working on, the children really enjoy this! We are also working on Social and Emotional curriculum.

    I also wanted to send out a friendly thought, it is very normal for children to have separation when getting dropped off in the morning, the best thing you can do is reassure your child that our families always come back, a nice big hug and let your child know you will see them soon! I do know it's hard to leave when your child is crying but please be assured, I have a quiet area for the children when they are needing that extra time and space and I am also reminding them that their families always come back. It's usually a quick process and the children bounce right back into routine. Please do not hesitate to call if you would like to check in and see how your child is doing afterwards.
     Thank you to all our families for the supplies for the classroom and the snack sign ups. I am truly grateful for everything!

     We finished our first week of school and it was a great first week back! It was a great success, the children are doing very well following the school rules and making friends. It was truly a great feeling to be back with the children and families. I would like to say a big thank you to all my parents for signing up for snack and supplies for the classroom. Our first week we introduced Social and Emotional/Welcoming and our friend the puppet William. We will be going over our first week of Social and Emotional for the second time this week as well.

     Welcome back to all of our OLM families! Olm is so excited to have everyone back for this new school year. Monday 8/3 will be our zoom meeting at 8:00 am as a meet and greet. I will be using this time to welcome all of our families, go over what to expect for the school year, and to answer any questions.
     There is a supply list that was sent out by Mrs. Mary about supplies, if anyone is needing assistants please do not hesitate to contact myself or Mrs. Mary. Please bring on the first day of school; change of clothes and shoes in a Ziploc bag with your child's name on it. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone come back to school, there will be some changes but we will get through all of this as a family and it will be a positive environment for all of our children at OLM school!
