Chaperone Information- Upcoming Field Trip

Hello Chaperones,
Please see attached information for chaperones below, directly from Mission San Juan Bautista.   Here is the contact information:

Here is contact information:
406 2nd Street
San Juan Batista, CA
phone: 831- 623-4528
Students will be arriving at school by 7:45AM, and we will leave at 8AM.  Once we arrive, you may park at the parish office near the mission garden or on the street (2nd street is closest).  Please wait outside the gift shop in front of the mission until I am able to check in and give instructions.  After that, you and your group may explore the mission.  Students will be completing a scavenger hunt- I will provide you with answer keys, as well as other mission information in your blue folders.

At 10:55AM, we will meet outside the gift shop.  We will proceed to gather lunches from the cars.  There are picnic tables in the mission garden, but they are on a first come first serve basis (which is why I have lunch scheduled early).  We will eat lunch at 11:00 to 11:30.  After lunch, your group can continue to explore the mission or can go get ice cream at Margot's Ice Cream Palor (211 Third Street).  If your group really wants ice cream, I would head over there at 11:45- last year there was quite a bit of a line!  In order to ensure everyone gets home on time, please have your kids go to the bathroom around 12:15- I want to leave at 12:30 (there was traffic last year).

My plan is to have students back at school by 2:30, but it may be closer to 3- it all depends on traffic that day!

WHAT WILL I BE DOING AS A CHAPERONE?
  • Your free admission carries with it responsibility for a group of students during their visit to Mission San Juan Bautista
  • You will help the students explore the Mission and make sure they behave appropriately.
  • You will stay with the students who have been assigned to you. The Mission requires that students stay with their chaperones at ALL TIMES.
HOW DO I MAKE SURE THIS IS THE BEST EXPERIENCE FOR THE STUDENTS AS WELL AS OTHER VISITORS TO THE MISSION?
  • Know who is in your group.
  • Keep the group together and stay with the students at all times. You are responsible for the behavior of the students you are chaperoning.
  • Share the Mission guidelines with your group of students.
WHAT ARE THE MISSIONS BEHAVIOR GUIDELINES?
  • Stay with your group. Students and adult chaperons must stay with their group at all times-inside or outside the Mission, Museum and in the Gift Shop.
  • Be courteous and respectful of all visitors. Talk quietly and walk through the Mission and grounds.
  • Be respectful of the Mission exhibits and buildings. Use books or clipboards to write against, instead of walls, windows or exhibits. Stay off of all walls, pillars and railings.
