This week in class:
Phonics- "el" sound at the ending of words. We will continue to review other digraphs/ ending sounds  we have learned so far ("ch," "sh," "wh," and "th", and "ng")

Reading- "Oswald Pretends" (fluency practice), "Fiddlesticks" (fiction passage) , "Bubbles" (Super Duper Informational Story).  We will continue to practice fluency and comprehension, and learn about non-fiction elements.

LA/ Writing- Identify facts and opinions; Generate and write opinions with supporting reasons.  Antonyms

Religion- Parts of the Mass/ Practice

Math-Continue subtraction , as well as continue to review addition facts.

Science- Seasons (with focus on fall)

Social Studies- Fact or Fiction?

Memory words: do, have, show, how, me, a

Spelling words:  candle, little, pickle, bubble, how, do, a, show, have, me

Other Notes:
  • Please check and sign your child's planner nightly.   Check and initial behavior chart nightly.
  • This week a list of memory words will be sent home. These are memory words your child has learned in class, as well as upcoming memory words for the entire year. We are currently on Unit 3. Please practice the words we have learned so far on a regular basis. Making flashcards, using them as bonus words for practice spelling tests, having your child find them in books at home, and writing them in sentences are some ideas for making practicing these important words fun!
