Please continue to practice recognizing and writing: sight words, letter recognition and phonics. We will continue working on these skills in class. In addition, we will continue practicing identifying beginning, middle and ending sounds, rhyming and writing numbers to 1 -30.

Please bring in a plain white men's sized t-shirt (new or gently used). We will use it to make a Native American costume.

Halloween Carnival: Thank you to all who helped run our booths. The evening was a lot of fun for the children.

Uniform:  It is time to put away the shorts and bring out the pants.  Boys must wear the navy corduroy pants and girls must wear the plaid jumper.  Pink socks, shoes, and shoelaces can be packed away till next year.

Fall Program:  We are in the Fall Program.  Children are to wear their Sunday best and meet in our classroom by 6:15 p.m.

Uniforms:  Its cold out there!  Time for sweatshirts/sweaters.  Please label them.  We try very hard to make sure your child does not lose their sweatshirts, labeling them helps.

Pink Free Dress
is on Wednesday.
Rosary: During the month of October we pray the rosary as a school.  Please help your child learn how to move from one bead to the next and practice saying a decade.  This is a wonderful opportunity to brush up on our faith, start a family tradition and teach our children the importance of prayer.
Halloween Carnival: Thank you for bringing in the bags of candy.  Your help is greatly appreciated.  Also, stop by the classroom and sign up for a time to work at our class booth. This qualifies for service hours!
Box Tops & Labels for Education: Please clip the labels and bring them in to class. Every month the class that brought in the most box tops and labels will win one free dress day. Ask your friends and family to help you win!
Fall Program:  We will be performing in the fall program.
Parent/Teacher Conferences:  Conferences are this week.  I am looking forward to meeting with you to discuss your child's progress.
Reminders:
Only OLM uniform sweatshirts/sweaters can be worn at Morning Prayer and inside the classrooms.  Jackets may be worn during recess only.
Label all outerwear.  Please check that your child brought home their own sweater/sweatshirt.
Remind children to put their sweater or sweatshirt in their backpack when not in use.
Dates to Remember:
10/17-21 Parent Teacher Conferences/Early Dismissal/Book Fair

Blessing of the Animals Mass:
Mass is on Friday 10/6 at 11:00 am.  My apologies, in the last newsletter I gave the wrong date. All are welcome to attend.  Children will sit with their class for the Mass.  Parents and animals will sit in a designated area.  At the end of the Mass the children may go to their parent to walk their pets up for a blessing.  After the blessing of the animals, the children need to return to their class for dismissal. Because Mass is held outside, students may also wear the uniform shorts for the Mass.
 Month of the Rosary:
Every Thursday the students will meet and recite the rosary as a school family.  If your child has a rosary, they are welcome to bring their own.  Please review how to hold a rosary and practice the prayers. We will also practice in class to help the students become more familiar with praying the rosary.
 Adoration in the Chapel:
Adoration and rosary is held every Friday morning at 7:15. Parents and children are welcome to attend.
 Sweatshirts and Sweaters:
Please label all sweatshirts and sweaters.  Clothing labels are a great way to do this.  You can write your child's name on them, they stick on (no ironing), and stay on in the washer and dryer. They last a very long time too.
 Pumpkin Patch:
Please turn in the permission slips and money by October 19th.  Chaperones must have completed the required safe environment training, cleared fingerprints, and turned in the forms for driving (see office for these).
