This week begins our Lenten journey for 2017. We must ask ourselves what is Lent about? Why are we asked to give things up and take things on? Who are we and how will this affect who we become?

? of the Day:
3/2: Before you go to bed tonight write down 3 things that you want to thank God for that were a part of your life TODAY. Now you have something to pray about as you fall asleep:) Please turn those in tomorrow. It's also the last day of 3rd Quarter - check your grades and turn in any missing work! Are you planning on wearing your OLM attire tomorrow to help support the decathlon team - bring $1.00. Anyone planning on making a chapel visit your Lenten promise or maybe listen to your cell phone as the "readings of the day" are played? March D Street $ - due NOW!
2/28: Have you thought about making one of your "taking on" activities to join us for 7:15 morning prayer services during Lent - it might not be an everyday commitment but a few days a week? Have you gathered your collection $ for tomorrow - our alms for the poor - and your March D Street $ - another way you give to those who have much less than you - you're feeding the hungry! Jesus is smiling!
2/27: Have you reminded your parents about your Summer School Form? Are any of you working on writing a short story, skit, about the way something we "give up" or "take on" can bring us closer to being who we were created to be?
2/28: Read the article and see if you have a "boulder" - maybe add it to your list - if you did not create a list do so. Choose 1 "take on" and 1 "give up" activity and circle them. At the bottom, or on the back, explain how you plan to achieve these goals during the 40 days of Lent.
2/27: Brainstorm ideas of things to "give up" or things to "take on" for Lent to make you the person God created you to be. Write as many as you can in to columns on binder paper - you will NOT be trying to do all of these things.
