8th Graders:
Welcome back to your final year at Our Lady of Mercy School!!  It will be a beautiful year especially if we keep the wonderful attitude and effort I saw today.  It's the first step for the rest of your life!
                   
                             
8th Homework :
? of the Day:
8/9: Have you written your states and capitals by region?  Now color your 6 regions on the map in 6 colors, then put a color dot of that region in front of your regions listed on the binder paper.  Make sure you have the correct # of states in that region in parentheses after the name of the region and that they are spelled correctly.  Turn in the map with your list.  Now go pack your St. Vincent Lunch :)
8/8: Did you remember that tonight is the Sports Meeting in the auditorium at 6pm for track and 6:30pm for all other sports? Have you filled out the Open house and Catholic Charities flyers? 
8/7: What character traits would you use to describe Jesus to someone who had not heard of Him?  List these and turn in tomorrow.

Religion:
8/9: Bring St Vincent lunch tomorrow.  Sunday reading connections (2) in Faith Journal due Monday.  5 paragraph Character essay rough draft typed in "google classroom" will be due on Monday. 
8/8: Who have you chosen for your character role model? YOU CAN PICK ANYONE WHO IS A GOOD ROLE MODEL - THE 1960 DATE WAS FOR YOU MOTTO TO LIVE BY!  Write their name and their character traits you will be writing about; turn in tomorrow. 5 paragraph essay rough draft typed in "google classroom" will be due on Monday.
8/7: Discuss with your parents important character traits.  Do you know anyone with these traits?
8/6:  ? What do you hope for this 2018-2019 school year?  Respond in your Faith Journal with date.  D Street Donation

U.S. History: 
8/9: List states and capitals by region using the text and numbered map.  Be sure to write the number of states in the region in parentheses by the name of the region. Memorize.
8/8: Study states and capitals.
8/6: States and Capitals listed by numbered map, due Wed.

Physical Science: 
8/9: Continue to research your career choice looking for answers to the 10 questions. Put any info in a google doc.
8/8: In "google classroom" state your career choice and why you chose this career.
8/7: Brainstorm careers you are interested in  - ask your family what they think you might enjoy doing as an adult.​

Life Science:
8/8: Write your plant choice and its Latin name - Genus and species: Example: Watermelon = Citrullus lanatus.    Use the 3 steps explained in class to learn the Scientific Method: 1. Correct what you wrote in class using the Scientific Method below, with a red pen. 2. Rewrite the Scientific Method focusing on the list below - make sure it is word perfect and make an effort to memorize it.  3. Using NO guide, write the Scientific Method from memory, be sure to double space. Now correct it to the list below with a red pen.  How did you do?  Turn all work in tomorrow.  
8/7: Have you looked in the mirror?  Are you symmetrical?   Copy and memorize the:

 1.   Observe using your 5 senses.
 2.   Ask a question about what you have observed.
 3.   Form a Hypothesis, an educated guess, about the
