8th Grade
These next few weeks as we think about character traits and role models, let us contemplate the trait of humility. What does it mean to be humble? Calendar: Monday, September 16: Progress Reports due back to Mrs. Keeler Tuesday, September 17: All-school Write Activity; 4pm Volleyball and Soccer at OLM Wednesday, September 18: Ms. Irma's Birthday; 1:15 Volleyball/Soccer photos; 4pm Volleyball/Soccer at OLM vs. LeGrand Thursday, September 19: Mrs. Fister's Birthday Friday, September 20: 2:30-5:00 Junior High Dance Sunday, September 22: 9:00 School Mass at St. Patrick's Church & 7:00-12:00 Pancake Breakfast at St. Patrick's Hall REMINDERS: ? of the Day: 9/19: Have you given your UC Merced field trip permission slip to your parents, gotten a signature on all 3 forms, hopefully a driver chaperone, and put it in your planner in your backpack? Thank you - NOW please write 3 sentences using the vocab words we learned today: contempt, refuse, and tranquil - make them make sense in your life today! 9/18: Have you remembered that you have a spelling/vocab test in English tomorrow? PLEASE share with your parents that the 8th grade will be attending an Open house at UC Merced at the Center for Cellular and Biomolecular Machines next Friday September 27th. There will be Flyers going home tomorrow and we are in need of drivers - please ask them to think about driving for this event. 9/17: Brainstorm and write 3 ways humans in your community have adapted to the environment and 3 ways the geography/environment has been adapted to humans. 9/16: Have you remembered to write and draw a birthday wish, for Mrs. Fister, about appreciation for who she is and her affect on your life, on 8x10 copy paper? Be sure to leave a 2 inch margin on the left hand side with the paper in a vertical position. Do not fold it and complete only ONE side. She loves: her family, faith, dogs, books, Giants, 49ers and the color blue. Think of all the experiences you've had with her through the years and use those to say kind and appreciative words. If she is new to you - imagine turning 70 and what kind, caring thing would you like said to you? Ask mom and dad for suggestions if you need help. 8th Grade Homework Religion: 9/19: BEGIN research for your saint - look for 5 sources. You will need at least 100 facts (notecards) from 3 internet and 2 hardcopy (books, magazines, etc.) sources. 9/17: Have you found a quote from your saint which you would like to use as a guide in life? 9/16: prepare saint connection outline for tomorrow's all-school writing activity U.S. History: 9/16-17: read and Cornell Note pgs. 16-19 due Wednesday Physical Science: 9/3-19: Prepare presentations - be ready Algebra: 9/19: p.20 OE # 2-10 translate, solve and check 7th Grade Homework: Life Science: 9/16-20: Organize binder for science and history; study Ch 10 science Cornell Notes - test Friday World History 9/16: Brainstorm and write 5 ways your life in your community is different because of the geography in the area where you live.
