Welcome back!!! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving break! I had a great break and feel recharged and ready to finish off the 2nd quarter. Progress Reports went home on Friday the 16th, please write a comment back or see me after school if you have any questions.
This week in 1st Grade:
We are back to homework!! :)
Reading: This week we are focusing on identifying short and long vowel sounds. We are adding in "Super e" at the end of words to learn that when there is a "Super e" at the end of a word the vowel will be long and say its name. For example, kit is a CVC word (consonant, vowel, consonant), but when we add a "Super e" to the end it is now kite, CVCe word (consonant, vowel, consonant, plus e).
Our stories this week are: Ettabetta is Seven! and Toc's Chicken Pox
Spelling Words: game, same, ride, side, said, only, you, out, of, here
Writing: Informational Paragraph--writing about facts
Math-Word problems with subtraction, -2, and starting to work with fact families
Religion: Baptism is a wonderful gift
Science: Animal classification book
Social Studies: Rights and Responsibilities
Art: Ladybug Art
We are responsible for St. Vincent lunches on Friday. I will send home a bag on Thursday.
We are in the Christmas program. The program is on December 19th at St. Patrick's Church.
Have a great week!!
