Welcome to September! A lot of important dates for this month so we will keep the dates posted on our blog as well as attached to our family wall for references. This week will be working on our Social and Emotional: Self-Talk. Self-talk is talking to yourself in a quiet voice or inside your head and helps you focus and pay attention. We will also be introducing Clifford Curriculum and our first week is all about "Let's Start School!"  We will also be going over the letter "s" colors; green, orange and red, and shapes; rectangle and diamond.
On Friday we will be celebrating Mother Mary's Birthday and we will provide a special snack for this quiet celebration. On Wednesday our class will be taking our school pictures, if you are wanting your child to be changed into a different outfit afterwards just refer to us and we will make sure to take care of that. Please check your child's box daily as we use it as a resource to keep our families up to date of what's going on in the classroom, our family folders, and any other important information.
Please check on your child's extra clothes to see if anything needs to be replaced or added, and to make sure all items have your child's name on them.
Thank you always for all that you do! We have enjoyed our first month and looking forward to what September has to offer! As always, please feel free to come to any of us with any questions or concerns.

Now that we have finished up our second week the children are really getting our routine down in the classroom as well as remembering our classroom rules. We have as a classroom been working on Social and Emotional curriculum and learning how to listen in a group with "eyes are watching" "ears are listening" "voices quiet" and "body calm" We are also learning that our emotions are important and even more important to use our words.
In your child's box you will see every week new information on our Social and Emotional curriculum to keep our families up to date what we are learning and to give out any helpful tips for home as well. Please check your child's box daily as that's a good resource of keep up to date on what's going on each week as any important dates coming up.
This week we will be working on the colors; purple and yellow, the shapes; circle and rectangle, and the letter f. On Wednesday we will have our librarian Mrs. Poole join us for reading time in the class.
Just a reminder, we had sent home ASQ/ASQ:SE packets, if you haven't returned them in, please do soon. Thank you all for signing up for our snack calendar, we honestly couldn't do it without all of our families! Thank you an amazing couple weeks and we are so excited for what this new year will bring. Please always feel free to contact us for any reason.

Blessings to all!

First week of preschool was a hit! The children learned so much the first week with our class rules, how to welcome each other, and even more with our social and emotional curriculum. We really focused on "Listening Ears, Watching Eyes, Quiet Voices and Body Calm" Every week we will be working on different units and we will include them on our blog as well. Please check the family boards as well as they will be posted there too.
Thank you so much for volunteering for snack, and if you are wanting to volunteer there is a snack sign up calendar on the family board, a friendly reminder we are a Peanut/Nut free zone.
Last week the children went over the letter "f", colors; purple and yellow and shapes circle and square. This week we will be working on the letter "f", colors: purple, yellow, and blue and shapes, circle and square. We will also be working on week 2: Listening.
A couple reminders; please bring in your mat cover if you haven't, please write your child's name on all of their belongs (clothes, mat covers, lunch boxes etc.), and if you haven't brought back you ASQ/ASQ-SE please bring them in as soon as possible.
Thank you again for letting us be such a big part of your child's life, we are beyond blessed! Here is to our second week.

Blessing's to all!

Welcome to all of our OLM families!! This our official first week of school and we are excited for what the new year will bring. Mrs. Donavan and Mrs. Irma are also pleased to introduce some new faces to our Olm Preschool family, Clarissa and Eva, they will be joining our classroom for the new year. Please visit our blog at olmlancers.com and there you will find preschool blogs, again the blog will be our biggest resource on keeping everyone up to date with what is happening in the classroom each week and any important future dates.
For our first week of school, we will be focusing on our classroom rules, our routines and how to use our words. Mrs. Donavan and Mrs. Irma are excited to be using the Second Step early learning program in your child’s classroom to teach important skills. The Second Step program teaches skills in the following four areas:
1. Skills for Learning: Children gain skills to help them be better learners, including how to focus their attention, listen carefully, and ask for help.
2. Empathy: Children learn to identify and understand their own and others feelings. Children also learn how to show care for others.
3. Emotion Management: Children learn how to calm down when they have strong feelings, such as worry or anger.
4. Friendship Skills and Problem Solving: Children learn how to make and keep friends and to solve problems with others in a positive way.
Please remember we are an open door policy for anything you might need, we can't thank you enough for choosing OLM Preschool for your child's first experience in a school setting and we both feel completely blessed to be part of such a big experience.

We just wrapped up family conferences and they went amazing!  We were both so grateful to be able to have one on one time on meeting you all, to learn more about your child(ren), and to go over what to expect in your child's classroom for the upcoming school year. As a reminder the blog will be one of our best resource to keep up to date what's happening in the classroom each week, as well as any holidays or important dates that are coming up. Mrs. Donnie and Mrs. Irma encourage to have open door policy so please feel free to email us, call us or even stop by the classroom for any reason at all! Here is to a great and blessed school year!
