***Zoom Meeting changed to 1pm.  Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused

If you did not have a chance to read yesterday's blog post, please read it as it has important information about student and teacher hours per our Diocese Superintendent.

Students and parents, please make sure you are reading the blog at least two times a day.  In the morning BEFORE you go into google classroom, and at the end of the day.  I will sometimes give updates, so please make sure you are checking twice a day.  I'm getting emails and I'm seeing questions posted in google classroom about where to find assignments, how to turn them in, etc. that have already been answered in the blog.  All daily assignments are detailed with specific instructions on where to find them and turn them in, so please make sure and read it everyday.

I encourage you all to say the Lenten Prayer posted for Tuesday and the Pandemic Prayer I posted on Monday together as a family.  Let's continue to pray for all those who have died, those who are ill, for our leaders, doctors, nurses, first responders, law enforcement, firefighters, our families, and friends. Please protect them and bless them, and pray for an end to this pandemic.

Good morning!  I hope everyone was able to enjoy a relaxing weekend with their families.  We made it through another week. Everyone did an amazing job, thank you all so much!!  Please continue to check the blog twice a day, morning and end of day, since updates can be posted at any time.

I had a very constructive and insightful meeting on Friday with our Superintendent and other 4th grade teachers in our Diocese.  We were able to share our resources, concerns, and new processes we will be incorporating into our new way of Online Learning.  Please read below regarding school hours per our Diocese:

- School hours are from 8am-12pm, or 9am-1pm (Total 4 hrs). The Superintendent wanted us to reiterate that evenings should be spent together as a family, and all school work should be done during the day.  All internet companies are offering free WIFI and even increasing bandwith if anyone is having trouble connecting.
***You know what's best and what works for your family.  I don't care what time they do their assignments, I just do not want them spending all day on the computer.

- Teacher hours are from 8am-3pm.  It was stressed that we need to unplug at 3pm, and encourage the children and families to do so as well. Please allow 24 hours for a response.
***I have to take frequent breaks from the computer, as I'm still healing from my concussion.  Although I may be working outside of the 8am-3pm timeframe, I will not be responding to emails after 3pm until the following day.

Please note, I've been very flexible with accepting work in any format, on time, or late, and will continue to do so. I ask that you would all continue to show the same flexibility and patience when I'm posting assignments, grading work, answering emails, etc. This is a learning process for us all, so if we can all practice some patience and grace, I think it will keep everything going smoothly.

Thank you all again!!  Keep up the good work and I appreciate all the kind messages and feedback!! :)

Happy Friday!!  I hope everyone is having a beautiful morning so far.

At 10am on EWTN channel, ewtn.com, the Pope will be giving a Eucharistic Adoration and Extraordinary Urbi et Orbi Blessing LIVE from St. Peter's Square.  Please tune in if you can!  It will be pretty amazing!   Nothing like this have ever happened in history!!

We are wrapping up the week with a lighter workload for today so they can catch up on anything they haven't completed for the week.  Today is a good day to upload any handwritten assignments that need to be turned in.  Any questions on how to upload to Google classroom, please go onto Mr Dimsey's blog to access his video tutorials.  They should be very helpful!

Today we would've done our class "Stations of the Cross."  I've linked a youtube video for Friday.  It would be nice if you could all watch it together as a family.  I hope everyone has a relaxing and safe weekend!!   Will be seeing everyone next week on Zoom!  Take care and keep praying!!

Today is the day we finally finish our book "The Indian in the Cupboard!!"  I've enjoyed reading the last chapter together as a class on our Zoom meetings.  The kids really enjoyed this book.  Nice break from our reading textbook.  We will have a reading quiz on Chapters 13-16 on Friday so please make sure they go back and review these chapters tonight.

I'm still missing a couple of students in each class on Google Classroom.  Please make sure students have access to each class I've listed: Religion, Math, Reading, English, Writing, Social Studies, Science, Class 2024.  If one is missing, they need to go back in their inbox and click JOIN on the invite.  If they can't find it, please tell them to email me and I will send the class code.

Students are doing a great job turning in their work in google classroom, and scanning their handwritten work. Thank you so much for helping them with the scanning, I know it can be tricky.  As always, make sure they keep checking the blog before going into Google classroom.  Take care and keep praying everyone.  I asked the kids to pray the rosary today, and I hope you will join them together as a family.  Hope to see all the kids at 11am!

Our first Zoom meeting went great!! Glad to see so many of you were able to join.  Its so nice to be able to get together a couple of times a week to reconnect, answer any questions, go over lessons, and just catch up. I missed seeing all their faces :) I hope to see everyone today at 11am, link below under Wed.  For attendance today, answer a short multiplication quiz on Google Classroom in Math class.  It was my first time creating so I hope it works.  I think it may have sent a copy to everyone's email, so you may be able to answer it that way as well.  We'll see how it goes, fingers crossed it works!

As a reminder, please make sure students and parents are checking the blog everyday BEFORE going into Google Classroom. There's important instructions and procedures that will help answer any questions they have on assignments in google classroom.  I'm getting a lot of questions that have been answered on the blog, so please make sure everyone is checking the blog first thing everyday.

Please remember it's easier to turn in all handwritten work on Fridays.  I've mentioned this before, and I will accept the work at any time, but it would be much easier to upload handwritten assignments all as one document on Friday, rather than multiple times throughout the week.  Just trying to keep it simple and give some time off the computer :)

Today is the Feast of the Annunciation!  Let us remember how Mother Mary trusted in God's plan for her, and ask that we have that same trust and faith in God's plan for us.  Please say a Hail Mary together as a family.  Take care everyone and hope to see you at 11am!

Good morning!  I hope everyone is able to join the Zoom meeting at 11am.  Link is listed below under Tuesday's work, and in the stream for Reading class in Google classroom.
***VERY IMPORTANT*** I'm still missing some students in Google Classroom!!!  Please make sure your child is checking their email and has accepted all invites to EACH class.  If there are any email issues, or they're unable to join a class, please email me immediately to get this resolved.  Your child is missing lessons and their assignments are piling up.  We do not want them to fall behind!!

Please make sure to check the blog everyday BEFORE you go into google classroom.  Not all assignments are going to be turned in through google classroom.  There are also specific directions on how to submit handwritten work that some are turning in completely wrong.  Please read Monday's blog post for helpful apps for scanning their work and uploading into Google Classroom.

I've asked the children to pray the rosary at any time today for Religion class. If you are able, please join them!  There is not a more powerful tool then the rosary.  We are reflecting on the Sorrowful Mysteries.  Each mystery is linked below for Tues.  Keep praying everyone and have faith!

 ***UPDATE***
Please make sure students accept the Zoom meeting invite for tomorrow at 11am!!  Please make sure they answer the question of the day in Reading class.  I will be using it for attendance.

We made it through our first week of online learning!! Thank you so much for emailing, asking questions, and sending comments on google classroom, it was awesome!  We have to do our best to stay connected. I also want to encourage the students to start emailing me directly with their questions, or posting on the class comments in Google Classroom.  Some have been which was fantastic!!  I want them all to get more acquainted with google classroom, and become a little more independent.  As always, parents are welcome to email me any questions/concerns they have, and give feedback.  How are students handling the transition to more computer time?  Is the work load too much, too little?  Suggestions??  I'm open to it all, it's been very helpful!!  Thank you!!!

Last week, we definitely hit the ground running!  I know it was lot!! It was definitely a learning experience.  We're gonna change up some things, adjust some expectations, and most importantly, not stress out!!  We'll get through this together, just like everything else :)  I also want to thank you all so much for your kind messages, support, and patience. Its a slow recovery, which creates challenges so your kindness really meant the world to me.  I appreciate it so much, THANK YOU!!!

I will also be setting up a couple of meetings through ZOOM every week, so the students and I can see each other and go through some lessons.  I was thinking of Tues and Thurs around 11am?  Let me know if that will work for you all.  We can always try different times every week if needed, to try and accommodate all requested times.

I also do not want to solely rely on the computer for their learning.  I want to try and get them away from the computer as much we can, if that makes sense.  I would still like them to handwrite some of their work.  Studies have shown that handwriting as opposed to typing will help with comprehension, overall processing, and are more likely to retain the information.  I would like to try this with some Science assignments this week.  Science has been a weakness for the class as a whole, so I want them to try extra hard in this subject.  They can turn in their handwritten work at the end of the week using either a scanner, or any apps that will convert them to a PDF.

Some Apps that have been recommended by some teachers and parents are Tiny Scanner, Simple Scan, Mini Scanner, and Genius Scan.  You simply download them to your phone, take a picture of the document, and it will convert it to a PDF.  Then you will be able to add the file into Google classroom. I will post detailed instructions before Friday.  Have a great Monday!!

Good morning!  Today is the feast day of Saint Joseph. The Pope is calling for a worldwide rosary of the Luminous Mysteries at 9pm Rome time, 1pm our time.  Please click on the link https://lacatholics.org/rosary/  and let us all come together with everyone all around the world, united by the power of the rosary to our blessed Mother Mary!  Please pass this message along!

Google classroom is up and running.  I will now be taking attendance everyday using Google classroom.  Each student has received an invite to join each class.  All they need to do is click Join, and they can start accessing each class.  Please go to Mr Dimsey's blog as an introduction.  He has helpful YouTube tutorials to help you get started with Google Classroom, learn how to turn in an assignment, etc. They will be using their emails:  first name.last name@olmlancers.com.  They can go into Google first to read their mail and join classes.

Very important!  All previous work that I have assigned must be turned in and will be graded. Follow the steps below:
In google classroom, click on Class of 2024
Type or scan assignments
Click either add or create file and select the PDF files.  You can load multiple docs as a single file.
Click Upload

I think Mr Dimsey has a tutorial on how to submit docs so I would watch that video as well.
Language Arts today is more of a review/catch up day to give them time to upload their assignments and explore google classroom.  I'm here to help so please send me any questions you have.

Let's all pray the rosary together at 1pm.  I will be thinking of you all!
