Happy Halloween!! 4th grade did an awesome job last week!!  We won the door contest for Red Ribbon Week with our slogan "Drugs Will Come Back to Haunt You!"  3 of our classmates won the book fair raffle, and we finally reached our class goal of 300 points!!! So proud of how far they have come and everything they have accomplished. Please keep checking/signing their planners everyday.  Congrats to team Magic Mountain for most group points.  Way to go team and keep up the good work!

Homework help will be Tues and Wed.  

Don't forget to wear your costumes on Halloween!! Reminder: This is the last week to wear shorts until the spring.  Full uniform on Fri.  Spelling Test will be on THURS due to late Halloween trick or treating.

It's a very exciting and very busy week!  The book fair is finally here!!  Please stop by and check it out.  There are also many options for donating books to the book drive and each classroom as well.  It will be open Mon-Thurs 8am-4pm, and Fri 8am-3pm.  

It's Red Ribbon Week!  Lots of fun activities and themes to celebrate.  Each day is different so refer to the list from the family envelopes.  Breast Cancer Awareness clothing and accessories are on on sale in the student store open before school.  Donate $5 and wear pink accessories all this month. It's a minimum day schedule all this week due to Parent/Teacher conferences.  Schedule below and there will be no homework help this week.

Please mark your calendars for the Scholastic Arctic Adventure Book Fair starting next Monday, Oct 21st through Friday, October 25th.  Our theme this year is "Snow Much to Read."  That same week we will also be celebrating Red Ribbon week.  There is a theme each day, so please refer to the list that went home in your family envelopes.  Minimum day all next week for Parent/Teacher conferences.

Language Arts- Finish "Stormalong" and read the folktale "Hoderi the Fisherman" Spelling test with homophones (sound the same, spelled differently) was postponed from Friday 10/11 to Wed 10/16.  Prewriting a fictional narrative using our story maps.  A rough draft, revision, edited, and final draft will be published. Grammar will include Capitalizing Languages, races, People's names, and nationalities.  
Social Studies- Week 10 "Early Explorers Visit California." Crossword puzzle, Think and Review questions.  Distinguish between Primary and secondary sources, and handout.
Science- Review lesson 3 "How Organisms Compete and Survive" and read/discuss lesson 4 "What Is Extinction and What Are It's Causes?" Chapter 3 Review on Friday and Science Test next week.  
P.E. & Art- Halloween art project and running/tag football

1st quarter is almost over!  Please make sure students continue turning in missing assignments, complete all their classwork/homework, and study!  We have been taking timed multiplication tests and made multiplication flashcards last week to get their times tables memorized. Please make sure they are reviewing these everyday.  As always, please check and sign their planners everyday.  

Congratulations to the Giants team this week!!  They started out slow but came out on top!  Keep reaching our goal of 300 points.  Awesome job!!

Homework help will be Wed and Thurs @ 2:30pm.  No homework help on Tuesday this week.
