Hi Dear Families,
I hope you had a blessed Easter! I just wanted to remind you that we will be starting Seesaw today instead of using Facebook. We do, though, have a beautiful gift for you posted on our Facebook group. Please go and check it out! If you have any trouble signing in to Seesaw, please let me know and I'll talk you through it. God bless you all and keep you healthy and happy, Miss C.

Dear Families,
I just wanted to tell you how sad I am that school will be closed for the rest of the year. I pray for us all during this scary and confusing time. We'll be changing from Facebook over to Seesaw and from what I hear it's a much better platform to teach from. It's intimidating to learn something new (again!) but I did it with Facebook, Zoom and Epic so I have confidence that I will learn Seesaw as well! Please jump in there and get your feet wet. It says somewhere on the app that if you do the 5 practice activities you will be a pro! Day 42 Tuesday, April 7, 2020 Gospel Reading: John 13:21-33, 36-38 "Amen, Amen, I say to you, the cock will not crow before you deny Me three times." (John 13:38b) My Offering To God: I will have courage in witnessing my faith in Christ, even when there is opposition. God bless and stay healthy, Miss C. Dear Families,
I hope you all had a chance to either see or hear Pope Francis this morning, praying for the end of the Coronavirus. It was truly uplifting and filled me with the Holy Spirit. If you missed it, they may play it again on Catholic TV channel EWTM, or your can go to The Vatican Portal. Day 31 of Lent Friday, March 27, 2020 Gospel reading: John 7:1-2, 10, 25-30 "So they tried to arrest Him, but no one laid a hand upon Him, because His hour had not yet come." (John 7:30) God bless you all, Love, Miss C. Good Morning Everyone!
I'm excited to tell you that today I'll be attending a Zoom meeting and hopefully soon I'll learn how to have Zoom meetings with the whole class! I think that'll be so exciting for all of us to be able to talk to each other face to face! Day 30 of Lent Thursday, March 26, 2020 Gospel reading: John 5:31-47 "The works that the Father gave Me to accomplish, these works that I perform testify on My behalf that the Father has sent Me. (John 5:36b) My offering to God: I will rejoice that Christ's works and signs demonstrate that he is the Son of God! God's blessing to you all, Love, Miss C. Good Morning Families,
Hooray! One more family has joined our Facebook Group! Only 9 more to go and we'll have our whole class! I will resend the invitation, if you didn't get yours...you may want to check your spam folder. Day 29 of Lent Wednesday, March 25th, 2020 Gospel Reading: Luke 1:26-38 "...the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the Child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God." (Luke 1:35b) My Offering to God: I will meditate on the wonder of the Lord of the universe choosing to wrap Himself in Humanity and be born like one of us. God bless and stay healthy, Love, Miss C. Dear Families,
I don't know what happened to my blog! I posted it and then it disappeared! Here I go again, if for some reason you already read my blog from today, Tues, March 24th. Please disregard this. Thank you to those of you accepted our invitation to join our Facebook group! We still have 10 families that have not joined and that concerns me! We teach school every day and stick to our regular classroom routine. It is very important to children to do what is familiar during times of uncertainty. Not only do I not want anyone to fall behind academically but I'm afraid this separation will effect the children socially and emotionally as well. While we are told to stay home we don't get to have any social interaction except with our families, of course, which is a good thing. I need to interact with parents and children as that is my life! I find being on Facebook will not only ease my need for socialization but your child's as well. They will be able to participate in school, see pictures and videos of their classmates and interact! If you have not signed up yet, please do so today, it is very important. From one of my 2020 Lenten Calendars... Day 28 of Lent, Tuesday, March 24, 2020 Gospel Reading: John 5:1-16 "Jesus said to him, 'Rise, take up your mat, and walk.' Immediately the man became well, took up his mat, and walked." (John 5:8-9a) My offering to God: I will help someone who is ill and suffering. Gob bless you all, Love, Miss C. Hi All!
Just a reminder that today is the last day for online orders for the See's Candy preschool fundraiser! I was blessed with a small book that's called "Closer to God" Daily reflections on the Lenten Readings for Mass. I thought I would share them with you since we can't go to Mass for now. Breaking the power of death.....Is 65:17-21 / Jn 4:43-54 Behold, God is doing a new, new thing, new things in the world, new things for you, to grant you a new beginning free of what has been old and tired and angry and broken. Forgetting what is old, watching for what is new, that is what faithful people do. Jesus' points out what everyone could see. Everyone noticed that where Jesus was present, old patterns of hurt and guilt and despair and injustice were broken. Wherever Jesus went, the power for death was broken and new life became possible. For some, that was a threat because they did not want to change. For others, it was the best news they ever had, because the power of death no longer could control their lives. Walter Brueggemann What "new thing" is God doing in me and my life this Lent? Good Morning and Happy Friday,
I hope you all got my e-mail yesterday about the notice from the Bishop. In case you didn't he says that all Catholic schools including preschools will be closed for an indeterminate amount of time. I went to school yesterday and got the curriculum for the rest of the school year so I can keep on teaching your children all the way through...just in case. Governor Newsome has called for a statewide "stay at home" order. I'm sure it doesn't include essential workers, my husband works at the hospital and he is still going every day. Sooooo.....let's make the best of it! Wash your hands and sign in. The question of the day is...What is your favorite shape? Second Step day 5 is to read a book related to this weeks theme. You can go online to Second Step.org for recommended books, resources and videos. Next, let's get out our paper titled Math Mat #18, How do we make patterns? Mom and Dad, we need a LOT of practice in making patterns...check your child's progress report. The first row has an AB pattern. On the second row do an AABB pattern and on the third row an AAABBB pattern. Start with color, you can use anything on hand. The next time you work with your children on patterns it can be shapes or sizes. Now is a good time for a snack break! Wash your hands and say your prayer. Please use your good table manners and clean your area when you're finished. Please wash your hands again! It's cold so put your coats on...without help please! Mom and Dad can help with the zipping and buttoning though! Remember put your hood on first and the rest will fall into place! Do you have a bike? A scooter? Roller skates? Shoes that run fast? Okay...let's burn off some of that energy!!! Come back in and wash your hands, sing the ABC's or Happy Birthday and your hands will be clean when you're done with your song. Don't dry your hands on your clothes! Use a paper towel instead! Now let's get on Epic and watch a video! Your choice today! Rest up because your next assignment is making your Stations of the Cross book. First cut the pages across the line on the page, not down. Fold them so you can't see the picture or the words and put them in order. You'll need help with that. have someone read each station to you and answer these questions after each station. #1: Why was Jesus condemned? Who did He say He was that people didn't believe? #2: Is it heavy? #3: Does anyone help Him then? #4: Who is Jesus Mother? #5: Would you have helped Jesus carry his cross? #6: What happens when Veronica wipes His face? #7: The cross is so very heavy! #8: Do the guards let them talk? #9: Will He get back up? #10: Why? #11: Could he have stopped this from happening? #12: Why did Jesus die on the cross? #13: Who is the lady in the picture? #14: What happened on the third day? Whew! I'm sure you surprised your parents with how much you have learned! Have Mom and Dad staple the folded pages together to make a book! I think that's enough work for a Friday! You are all amazing and I miss you very much!!! May the Lord keep you healthy and happy, Miss. C. Good Morning!
Thank you to those of you who left comments on my blog. I heard from 7 of you and would love to hear from the rest. Thank you also for the tips on toilet paper. I actually found some at the Shell Gas Station in Atwater. I called The Dollar Store yesterday and the gal told me they were getting a shipment in this morning at 8:00. This is the one on Bellevue in Atwater. Another thank you to those of you who sign up on Epic! The more I look through it the more excited I am...it truly is Epic! There are thousands of book and videos that are age appropriate. One of your friends read 8 books yesterday! Wow! Great Job! <3 Wash your hands and sign in. The question of the day is...How does doing school work at home make you feel? Happy? Excited? Bored? Let's start today with the Angel of God prayer... In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit...Amen Angel of God, my guardian dear to whom God's love entrusts us here. Ever this day be at my side, to light, to guard, to rule and to guide...Amen In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit...Amen Flag Salute Day 4 in Second Step Social Emotional: Skill practice activity #2: Joining in We'll be using our puppets Miguel and Lucy so you can use socks or you can just use your hands if you don't have any puppets. Make two cards, one with a smiley face and one with a frowning face and you'll need play food either "real" play food or "imaginary" play food depending on what you have. As you're playing, Miguel and Lucy will try different ways to join in the game. For each way, you'll decide if it's an okay way to join in. Hold up the card that shows if that way of joining in is okay. Have the children practice responding in assertive, respectful ways to the puppets behaviors. Try out a few scenarios, good ones and bad ones. Now let's color and cut out our second set of tools. Do you know what they are and what they do? Whew! That was a lot of work! Let's hop on over to Epic! And read a story! My tummy is hungry...is yours? Lets wash hands, say a prayer and have a snack. Don't forget to use good table manners and to clean your area when you're finished. If you accidentally spill, show Mom and Dad that you know how to clean it up all by yourself! Wash your hands again... We're out of here! Let's go outside and look for four leaf clovers! If you have any trees nearby you can look on the trunk of the trees way down by the ground to see if you can find any elf homes. Draw a picture for me please. Wash hands (yes again!) and let's get out our playdough. This time I want you to make snakes (ewww! you know I don't like snakes!) Anyway, make 5 snakes all different sizes and put them in order shortest to longest. Count each one and then count them again saying first, second, third, fourth, fifth. Measure them with a ruler or a tape measure, then put them all together to make one long snake and measure them again. If you don't have playdough, you can use sticks of different sizes. Write down three numbers you see on the ruler or tape measure. Yesterday I forgot to honor St. Joseph. It was his feast day. St. Joseph was Jesus' daddy on earth, he followed God's will, was a good provider and a hard worker. He was a carpenter and taught Jesus the skills of his trade. Let's do what St. Joseph did, follow God's will, provide for others less fortunate and work hard. Mom and Dad, please look online to find a video about St. Joseph for preschoolers and talk about it with your children. Please let me hear from you in the comments section and let me know what you think of my blog. Too much work? Too little? Please, those of you I haven't heard from, let me know that you are able to get on my blog. I know life is crazy so maybe you haven't had the time to get on. I will be calling everyone tomorrow to check in. I miss the kids like crazy! May God keep you all healthy and happy Miss C. |
